(GLO) - Along with the desire to explore majestic scenery, enjoy fresh air, and experience the cultural life of the local ethnic minorities, many tourists also seek out and purchase Gia Lai specialties for personal use or as gifts.
After spending time in Pleiku City and visiting famous tourist attractions in the province, the group of tourists from Thanh Hoa province prepared to return home. Before bidding farewell to Gia Lai province, many took the time to learn about and purchase some local specialties such as: ground coffee, black pepper, macadamia nuts, roasted salted cashews, Catecka tea, wild bitter melon, wild honey, reishi mushrooms... These are clean products, free from chemicals, and meet OCOP standards.
Mr. Le Xuan Lap said: “I have visited Gia Lai many times to explore and experience the area. Every time, I look for local specialties to bring home for personal use and as gifts for relatives. Gia Lai has many high-quality, delicious, safe, and affordable specialties.”

Unlike Mr. Lap, who traveled with a tour group, Mr. Vu Dinh Sau and his wife, Ms. Truong Thi My Hanh, traveled by motorbike from Ho Chi Minh City to Gia Lai. The scenery, people, and culture of the Northern Central Highlands captivated them, offering a fascinating experience and opportunity for exploration. They particularly appreciated and favored several local agricultural products.
Ms. Hanh said: “My husband and I were traveling and expanding our business relationships at the same time. Seeing that some of the local specialties here were of good quality and reasonably priced, I bought a considerable quantity and sent it by car to Ho Chi Minh City to try selling it. If the market there likes it, I will plan to develop a long-term business selling these main local specialties.”
Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Nhung, a vendor selling souvenirs and specialties from Gia Lai at the entrance to the Bien Ho scenic area, happily introduced Ms. Hanh to the OCOP products of the Gia Lai Agricultural Cooperative (GAUC).
Nhung excitedly shared: “Besides selling directly, I also sell through my phone number connected to Zalo and other social media platforms. Customers just need to call to agree on the price and payment method, and I will ship the goods directly to them.”

One of the famous agricultural specialties in Gia Lai is tea, for example, Bien Ho tea and Bau Can tea. Thinh Phat Danh Tra Co., Ltd. The company also collaborates with famous tea companies in Thai Nguyen to exchange and trade various tea products such as Tan Cuong tea, Phu Quy tea, Tien Sinh tea, etc.
Ms. Pham Thi Mi, Director of Thinh Phat Danh Tra Co., Ltd., shared: “Customers who buy specialty products in Gia Lai are mainly from outside the province. They really like natural products that are grown, harvested, and processed according to organic farming standards.”
To meet that demand, the company has implemented a closed-loop production and processing system, using no chemicals, with attractive packaging, clear origin information, expiration dates, technical specifications, warning information, etc., committing to serving customers above all else.”
In order to contribute to tourism development and diversify product promotion methods, businesses and agricultural and forestry cooperatives in the province are applying high technology to production, processing, and trading.
Mr. Nguyen The Hung, Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, said: “The entire province has 54 cooperatives applying high technology to production; 6 cooperatives have been granted codes for exporting durian, sweet potatoes, passion fruit… to countries such as China, the United States, Australia, Japan, and South Korea... Along with official exports, production and business establishments focus on diversifying products and improving the quality of agricultural and forestry products to serve domestic consumption and to serve domestic and foreign tourists visiting Gia Lai.”
