The festival is organized to implement the Project "Protecting and promoting the artistic values of Southern ĐCTT in Ca Mau province for the period 2021-2025" and contribute to the effective implementation of the National Action Program to protect and promote the artistic values of Southern ĐCTT. ĐCTT space attracts a large number of artists, audiences and fans from near and far. The sound of instruments and songs harmonize with each other, contributing to honoring and spreading this unique art form - a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
76 contestants from 10 communes and towns participated, each unit performed 25-35 minutes with the following styles: vọng cổ, xàng xe, văn thiên Tường qua xàng, giang nam, nam đào, phu lục... including solo, duet, group singing or band performances, revolving around the content praising the Party, Uncle Ho, Heroic Vietnamese Mother, revolutionary tradition, love for homeland, country, achievements in the cause of innovation, building and defending the Fatherland; patriotic emulation movements; especially praising the achievements in the process of building new rural areas in Thoi Binh homeland.
The artists were carefully selected in each locality, along with thoughtful investment in content, script, setting, costumes, props... the units brought unique and quality programs and performances. The love for ĐCTT is also shown through the young successors, when many units have young contestants participating in both the musical and singing parts.
Tan Phu Commune opened the festival with heroic revolutionary songs performed by the youngest contestant, the song "Hero of Vietnam". Although only 10 years old, Huynh Quoc Chieu has been passionate about ÐCTT for many years, his voice is very high, harmonious, and he performed the song very successfully. Or the senior contestants over 70 years old also enthusiastically participated, coming to the festival is a great joy to fulfill their wish to sing on stage and in front of a large audience. Contestant Nguyen Kim Tuyen, Tan Phu Commune, said: "It's very exciting to be able to sing on stage, I'm still passionate at my age, so I'll try to compete once to know".
Over 70 years old, contestant Nguyen Kim Tuyen still shines on stage at the festival.
Thoi Binh commune unit highlights the characteristics of Thoi Binh village, the artists play and sing traditional songs, ca ra bo, vong co, play the instrument in harmony... rhythmically and harmoniously.
After more than 100 years of development, ĐCTT has been closely associated with the lives of the people of the South. Rich melodies such as: ca ra bo, vong co, cai luong... developed on the basis of ĐCTT art, enriching the folk music treasure, strictly following and preserving the quintessence of 20 ancestral songs. The festival is also an opportunity for exchange between clubs and ĐCTT enthusiasts, aiming to preserve and promote this traditional music form of the Southern region.
Mr. Tran Minh Nhan, Vice Chairman of Thoi Binh District People's Committee, said: "The first Thoi Binh District Southern Folk Song Festival in 2023 not only creates a space for folk songs for amateurs from communes and towns in the district to express their talents and passion, but is also a place for exchange and meeting of artisans and music lovers. This is a stage for exchanging, discussing, preserving, and developing the art of folk songs, in order to implement the province's project and the district People's Committee's plan on protecting and promoting the value of Southern Folk Songs in Ca Mau province in the period of 2021-2025. That is the driving force to promote the district's folk song movement to constantly grow"./.
