Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Ha Duc Anh, Chairman of Van Yen District People's Committee emphasized: ''At the end of 2016, the heritage of practicing the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people was officially recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. To promote and preserve the value of this intangible heritage, Van Yen District has successfully organized the Festival of practicing the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Upper Realm three times.

Inheriting and promoting the success after 3 times of organization, this 4th Festival of practicing the worship of Mother Goddess of the Upper Realm promises to have many unique contents, an opportunity for people and tourists to understand more deeply about the heritage of practicing the worship of Mother Goddess of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people, an opportunity to affirm and honor folk artists, excellent artists, Chau Van singers and artists, and mediums who directly practice the worship of Mother Goddess of the Three Realms.
The festival is also an opportunity for Van Yen district to continue promoting its potential and strengths in tourism development, focusing on promoting the national historical relic of Dong Cuong temple to visitors from all over the world, gradually forming a chain of links to develop spiritual tourism associated with other types of tourism in Van Yen district.
Delegates and visitors enjoyed special Chau Van performances by more than 30 artists from across the country.
At the opening ceremony, there was a special performance by the Huong Que art troupe of Van Yen district and Meritorious Artist Dinh Cong Manh, Meritorious Artist Pham Van Ty; Artist Dinh Tra Vinh; Artist Pham Duc Niem with the songs: Van Yen brightens the future; Tay dance; Vietnam brocade; Chau Van singing... attracting a large number of people and tourists to watch.

Coming to this year's Festival, visitors and locals will be able to admire the unique offerings of more than 100 artisans and mediums from over 20 provinces and cities across the country in a 9-day performance program from October 17 to October 25, 2023.
Especially, you will enjoy the special Chau Van singing performances of over 30 artists and Chau Van singing teams from all over the country participating in the Chau Van singing competition with the theme "Sacred Motherland" for the first time at Dong Cuong temple; Admire the unique paintings "Land and people of Van Yen" by the authors who have just participated in the literary and artistic composition competition "Van Yen, land of memories".

At the festival, the Organizing Committee also introduced new songs that won high prizes in the competition; Visited, shopped and enjoyed typical culinary dishes of Dong Cuong land; Received advice, introductions, and guided tours and experiences at other special spiritual and community tourism destinations in Van Yen district.
The performances are intended to convey and express people's wishes and aspirations, as well as convey historical imprints, record the stories and praise the merits of historical figures who have contributed to the people and the country.
Along with the Festival activities practicing the worship of the Mother Goddess of the Upper Realm, coming to the Festival, visitors can also participate in the activities of the traditional New Rice Festival, especially the ritual of slaughtering a black buffalo to worship the Mother Goddess and sacrifice it to heaven and earth at 0:00 on the day of the Cat in September. The buffalo meat is processed into 36 trays of food, offered in the Temple to commemorate the national heroes and soldiers of the dynasties who sacrificed their lives in the naval battle against the Yuan-Mongol army to protect the Fatherland.
Besides the products of a year of cultivation and animal husbandry, sticky rice is considered a product with the quintessential flavor of heaven and earth, the best of the season, offered to thank the Mother Goddess, the Jade Emperor and the gods, expressing the gratitude of the people to heaven and earth for giving good crops, a prosperous and happy life, and praying for favorable weather, national peace and prosperity.
Dong Cuong Temple is a space for converging and spreading the worship of Mother Goddess of the Upper Realm of the Vietnamese people.
Right after the buffalo slaughtering ceremony, people and visitors will be given new rice by Mr. Mo - the Head of the Temple, "Golden Grains of Mother Earth", these are glutinous rice grains offered to the temple as a ceremony for Mother to descend to witness, to be given to all people to bring blessings all year round, peace and prosperity.
Along with the ceremony, visitors will be able to visit and experience activities such as: Photo exhibition "Land and people of Van Yen"; "Golden season offering to the Mother" product procession program, these are typical local products prepared by 9 villages of Dong Cuong commune with respect to offer to the Second Mother of the Upper Realm, sports activities, folk games such as: Tug of war, stick pushing, blindfolded gong beating.
