On the morning of September 21st, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Con Cuong district ( Nghe An province ), stated that in recent days, the district has experienced heavy rain and strong winds due to the influence of the remnants of typhoon number 4.
Heavy and prolonged rainfall in Blocks 7 and 8 of Con Cuong town has caused rockslides from Cua Ro mountain, bringing rocks close to residential areas, including two large boulders that have caused concern among the residents.

Many households live around Cua Ro Mountain. Furthermore, this mountain is located next to National Highway 7, on the road to the Khe Kem Waterfall tourist destination. The phenomenon of rocks falling from the mountaintop not only poses a danger to the residents living there, but also threatens those traveling on National Highway 7.
These rocks have now collapsed, rolling down from the mountaintop to a lower area, 5-10 meters away from houses in Blocks 7 and 8 of Con Cuong town.
According to local leaders, in heavy rain, these rocks pose a high risk of rolling down onto residential areas. Of particular concern is that 10 households with 40 people in the area are threatened.

After receiving reports from local residents, the local authorities and rescue teams used cables and wooden posts to secure the two rocks in place.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan stated that after the rain stops, the authorities will break up the rocks and move them to another location to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.
Previously, the People's Committee of Con Cuong district had directed Con Cuong town to urgently relocate residents in areas at high risk of rockslides and landslides to safe locations.
Local authorities have also erected warning signs in dangerous areas to alert people and vehicles passing through. The People's Committee of Con Cuong district has requested that checkpoints be set up to prevent people and vehicles from passing through if necessary until the situation is completely under control.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan added that 10 households at risk of being affected by falling rocks have been evacuated to a safe place. Local authorities and relevant agencies are temporarily anchoring the rocks, waiting for the rain and floods to subside before manually drilling to remove them.

Earlier, at around 5 PM on September 19th, a rockslide occurred on the road from Chom Lom village to Yen Hoa village (Lang Khe commune, Con Cuong district). Many large rocks fell from the mountain, blocking the road and causing traffic difficulties and dangers.
The People's Committee of Lang Khe commune has notified residents in the area not to travel on this road; at the same time, they have deployed guards to prevent people and vehicles from passing through to avoid risks.
Due to the rain following Typhoon No. 4 , landslides and tree falls also occurred in the Eo Vuc Bong area on National Highway 7A, in Bong Khe commune, Con Cuong district. The incident resulted in injuries to a local father and son who were crushed by a falling tree, and their motorbike was severely damaged.
