On August 15, the Vietnam Education Publishing House (NXBGDVN) announced that it had completed training and fostering teachers in using textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12 and had fully prepared textbooks to supply to localities nationwide.
Specifically, regarding the training and development of teachers using textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has prepared a full range of documents and data for training, including electronic versions of textbooks, teacher books, training materials for teachers using textbooks; textbook introduction videos, etc. All of these documents and data are posted for free on the website taphuan.nxbgd.vn so that managers and teachers can proactively learn and research textbooks for each subject.
NXBGDVN has completed organizing training courses for all subjects and educational activities for grades 5, 9, and 12 in 63 provinces and cities, ensuring the quality and progress requirements of the Ministry of Education and Training. NXBGDVN will continue to organize and implement teacher training and development throughout the school year when requested by localities.
Regarding the supply of textbooks so that students have enough books before the new school year, by August 14, 2024, the Vietnam Education Publishing House had completed printing and warehousing textbooks for all classes, reaching 96.7% of the plan, equivalent to 168 million copies.
Currently, the Vietnam Education Publishing House is supplying textbooks to localities according to the ordered quantity. Up to this point, 96.1% of the plan has been published, equivalent to 168.4 million copies.
Parents can buy books at the NXBGDVN store system and its member units, local book and school equipment companies. The list of stores in the system has been informed on the NXBGDVN website at www.nxbgd.vn.
Over the past time, the hotline of NXBGDVN (0344.181018) has been operating continuously from 8:00 to 22:00 every day, including Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Parents and students who need information about where to buy textbooks can call the hotline for support.
Regarding textbook prices for the 2024-2025 school year, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training on strictly controlling production costs, reducing costs to reduce textbook prices, supporting consumers, ensuring social security; implementing the recommendations in Resolution 686/NQ-UBTVQH15-2023 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Vietnam Education Publishing House has adjusted down the selling prices of reprinted textbooks (grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11) for the 2024-2025 school year. Accordingly, the new cover prices of the above textbooks applied from the 2024-2025 school year have been adjusted down compared to previous years. Specifically, the cover price of the Connecting Knowledge with Life textbook set has decreased by 9.6%, the cover price of the Creative Horizon textbook set has decreased by 11.2%.
For textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12 (first year of publication), the Vietnam Education Publishing House has developed and completed price declarations according to the reduced price structure for reprinted grades.
To ensure accuracy, clarity, no confusion, convenience for customers to observe and recognize; to protect the rights of students and consumers, the new textbook price list has been fully and publicly posted at textbook sales points nationwide; on the general electronic information page of the Vietnam Education Publishing House (at www.nxbgd.vn) and on mass media as prescribed.
Regarding the fight against pirated publications, from May to July 2024, the authorities discovered hundreds of thousands of counterfeit textbooks produced by the Vietnam Education Publishing House in several provinces and cities. The Vietnam Education Publishing House is actively coordinating with the authorities in providing and verifying information, providing legal documents related to cases of production and trading of pirated publications for handling in accordance with the provisions of law.
NXBGDVN recommends that, to avoid buying pirated or fake books, teachers, parents and students should buy books at the official distribution systems of NXBGDVN, local Book - School Equipment companies, and not buy books from unknown sources on the market.
Regarding support for students in difficult circumstances, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training on ensuring enough textbooks for the 2024-2025 school year for students nationwide, creating a source of learning and teaching materials for students and teachers to use together in school libraries, the Vietnam Education Publishing House continues to organize the implementation of the Shared Textbook Cabinet program.
Specifically, about 1,000 shared textbook cabinets will be donated to secondary schools/schools in disadvantaged areas, remote areas, border areas, islands... nationwide, an average of 15 cabinets per province. Each bookcase includes 90 sets of textbooks and 6 sets of teachers' books from grades 6 to 8 according to the 2018 General Education Program. At the same time, about 30,000 sets of textbooks and 2,000 sets of teachers' books for grade 5 will be donated to the shared textbook cabinets at primary level (implemented by the Vietnam Education Publishing House in 2023).
The program to donate shared textbook cabinets is expected to be implemented from October 2024, with a total value of about 27 billion VND.
