Speaking at the workshop, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Tran Chi Cuong stated: Developing medical tourism is one of the important orientations in the city's strategy for developing high-quality services, associated with the goal of building Da Nang into a major socio -economic center of the Central Highlands and the whole country.

Da Nang has many potentials and advantages to develop medical tourism thanks to its developed healthcare system, a team of good doctors, a synchronous tourism infrastructure, and a friendly and safe living environment. And many advanced and modern medical techniques have been successfully applied in Da Nang city.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors, medical units and enterprises to continue researching and proposing support mechanisms and policies, promoting industry linkages and service connections, ensuring quality, efficiency and creating a unique brand for Da Nang medical tourism.

It is necessary to focus on developing medical tourism into a typical product of Da Nang, with the goal of creating added value from high-quality medical services, while closely connecting the medical, tourism, and business sectors to build a sustainable and branded model. The city is committed to accompanying, removing difficulties, and providing maximum support to promote this model to develop substantially and sustainably.

Currently, Da Nang has implemented the Da Nang Medical Tourism Development Project for the period 2025-2030, with the general goal of the project being to improve the quality of medical services to develop medical tourism in Da Nang, contributing to economic growth and promoting the city's image.

By 2030, the project aims to upgrade medical infrastructure to serve international visitors, have at least two medical facilities meeting international standards, and train professional medical staff.

The project also aims to develop a variety of medical tourism service packages, promote the image of Da Nang medical tourism, increase the number of international visitors using medical services, and build an online system to support visitors.

According to Ms. Bui Ngoc Nhu Nguyet, Deputy Director of the Institute for Socio-Economic Development Research of Da Nang City, currently international tourists coming to Da Nang have high demand for medical examination and treatment services, periodic health check-ups, post-Covid-19 care and traditional medicine services.

However, there is still a lack of linkage models and complete products. Investing in the right direction, standardizing service quality, and linking with the city's healthcare brand will create a clear competitive advantage for Da Nang in the region.

Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen, President of the Da Nang City Medical Association, highly appreciated the opinions and initiatives at the workshop and said that the Medical Association will continue to act as a bridge to support the construction of a systematic Medical Tourism model, suitable to the practical conditions of Da Nang City.

The Da Nang health sector currently directly manages 11 hospitals, 5 reserve blocks and 7 district health centers. In addition, the Da Nang Department of Health performs professional management of 7 non-public hospitals and coordinates with 4 hospitals of ministries and branches. In addition, in Da Nang city, there are currently more than 1,500 medical facilities providing private medical and pharmaceutical services.
