DNVN - According to the plan, on October 23, Vietjet Air will launch the route Amedabad (India) - Da Nang with a frequency of 2 flights/week. By the end of December 2024, Citilinks airline will also operate the route Jakarta (Indonesia) - Da Nang.
According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, as of September 2024, there are 20 flights to Da Nang with an average frequency of 115 flights/day in the first 9 months of the year (64 domestic flights and 51 international flights).
Tourists from Muslim markets to Da Nang are increasing.
Most recently, on September 24, the Da Nang Department of Tourism welcomed the first flight of Malaysia Airlines operating the Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang route with a frequency of 7 flights/week using B737-800 aircraft. Thus, up to now, the Kuala Lumpur - Da Nang route has reached a frequency of 28 flights/week operated by 3 airlines: Vietjet Air, Asia Air and most recently Malaysia Airlines.
It is expected that on October 23, Vietjet Air will launch the Amedabad (India) - Da Nang route with a frequency of 2 flights/week. By the end of December 2024, Citilinks Indonesia and PT. UOS Travel will also launch the Jakarta (Indonesia) - Da Nang charter route, with an initial plan of 2 flights/week and will increase the frequency after the number of passengers has stabilized.
To prepare for these new routes, the Da Nang Department of Tourism has continuously coordinated to organize seminars with travel companies, travel agencies, and accommodation service businesses to share experiences in serving and developing products to exploit the Indian market in 2024; organized a seminar on "Solutions to attract Indonesian tourists to Da Nang and promote the opening of flights from Indonesia".
According to Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Hoai An, the number of Indian tourists to the city has grown strongly in recent years. In the first 8 months of 2024, the city welcomed more than 135,000 visitors, accounting for more than 43% of the total number of Indian visitors to Vietnam, an increase of 55% over the same period in 2023. Da Nang is an increasingly popular destination, attracting Indian tourists with many diverse types of tourism, including wedding tourism, beach resorts, cultural tourism, golf tourism and shopping.
The Jakarta - Da Nang route will connect the city on the Han River with the fourth most populous Indonesian tourist market in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia. Currently, Da Nang International Airport has put into use prayer rooms to serve Muslim passengers since the beginning of 2023. Along with that, many areas have also put into use restaurants that meet Halal standards to serve customers, accommodation businesses organize prayer rooms and introduce Muslim-friendly services.
In addition, the leader of the Da Nang Department of Tourism also said that in the remaining months of 2024, they will continue to promote the opening of direct international flights to Da Nang from markets such as China, Japan (Nagoya, Osaka), Australia...; welcome international famtrip and presstrip delegations (Indonesia, India, Korea...) to survey, learn and introduce the unique tourism products of Da Nang.
