Da Nang: In 2024, 4 new semiconductor design enterprises will register to be established.

DNVN - Since the beginning of 2024, 4 semiconductor design enterprises have registered to establish new enterprises in the city, including 3 American enterprises and 1 Korean enterprise.

The draft project on developing the semiconductor microchip (VMBD) and artificial intelligence sector of Da Nang City aims to have at least 20 VMBD design and design service enterprises by 2030; strive to attract at least 1-2 packaging and testing enterprises; strive to have at least 5 startups in the VMBD sector successfully incubated and accelerated development. Strive for the digital economy to contribute at least 35% - 40% of the city's GRDP by 2030.

Software Park No. 2 (phase 1) is about to be put into operation by Da Nang City.

According to the monitoring report of the People's Council of Da Nang City, in fact, the city currently has 13 VMBD design enterprises. From the beginning of 2024 to now, 4 VMBD design enterprises have registered to establish new enterprises in the city; including Mixel Vietnam Company (USA); Marvell Vietnam Technology Company Limited Branch in Da Nang (USA); Sibridges Vietnam Company Limited (USA) and Ideas2Silion Vietnam Company (Korea).

Along with that, there are 3 enterprises expanding their investment scale and personnel in Da Nang, including Synopsys, Quest Global, FPT Semiconductor. In addition, there are a number of projects producing semiconductor materials and equipment serving the semiconductor industry that are carrying out investment procedures in the city but have not been granted investment certificates.

Currently, the Da Nang Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence Research and Training Center (DSAC) is directly supporting the attraction of 3 semiconductor chip design projects, 2 semiconductor equipment manufacturing projects and 1 semiconductor materials project. At the same time, international promotion and cooperation activities on the development of the VMBD field are being deployed and promoted.

The monitoring report of the Da Nang City People's Council also said that recently, the city has focused on completing the investment in the project of software park No. 2 (CVPM No. 2) phase 1; advising the Government to decide to establish a concentrated IT park - expanded CVPM No. 2; and is currently completing the project to put the project into operation.

The city government is also promoting investment in IT projects, including the Hoa Xuan Ward Creative Space project, the Da Nang Bay IT Park project, and the Viettel Da Nang building. The DSAC Center focuses on consulting on investment and development of the city's VMBD and artificial intelligence sectors; focusing on connecting human resource development and training in the VMBD and artificial intelligence sectors in the area.

According to the Economic - Budget Committee of the Da Nang City People's Council, in the coming time, the city will continue to proactively connect and approach businesses and potential investors in the US, Japan, Taiwan (China), Japan, etc.; coordinate with partners to organize events and forums to promote investment in the field of VMBD in Da Nang.

At the same time, continue to call for investment and develop infrastructure to serve the VMBD industry (complete phase 1 of the No. 2 software park, research and expand phase 2 of the No. 2 software park project; invest in labs...). Support the joint venture of Sovico Group and Synopsys Group, Viettel Group and Synopsys to implement the project of establishing a High Performance Computing Center to serve VMBD design in the city.

The City government will also increase support for investors already present in the locality (Synopsys, Marvell, UAC, Sioux...) to expand their investment, promptly resolve difficulties and problems during operations; continue to support strategic investors to conduct investment research in the city (Qorvo, Qualcomm, Ampere...).
