Da Nang: Naming communes and wards with culturally profound place names

On the morning of April 22, the Executive Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee (term XXII) unanimously approved Resolution No. 26-NQ/TU on adjusting the names of commune-level administrative units formed after the rearrangement in Resolution No. 25-NQ/TU, dated April 15, 2025.

Accordingly, instead of the current naming scheme of taking the names of districts and towns and adding serial numbers, Da Nang will take back the names of lands and villages with places associated with cultural depth, evoking pride and creating natural connections, arousing the development aspirations of the whole community. These are the names An Hai, Thac Gian, Hai Van, Son Tra, Ba Na...

The naming of new communes and wards in Da Nang is based on priority criteria of history, culture, economy , development space, security and defense. Most localities retain the name of a typical unit if it is outstanding according to the criteria; only combine new names if the merged components are of equal importance.

The city continues to collect public opinions, ensuring submission to the City People's Council on April 24; complete the dossier to submit to the Government before May 1. Relevant Party committees, agencies, localities and units, based on their assigned functions and tasks, promptly concretize the implementation of the Resolution to ensure the quality and progress set forth.
