Da Lat is becoming 'concrete'.

VietNamNetVietNamNet22/08/2023

According to Dr. Ngo Viet Nam Son, regarding the management of concrete-covered areas, it is necessary to protect areas that still maintain a high percentage of green space, ideally at least 30% and ideally 50% or more. Along with this, local authorities need policies to encourage the increase of green space and water features in urban areas. In areas with few existing trees, the government should not continue to grant permits for new construction. Existing structures should only be permitted for renovation and improvement, not expansion.

"Da Lat has no shortage of land for investment and development, so there's no reason to keep crowding construction in cramped urban areas. Infrastructure investment and construction should be moved to the outskirts of the city, where land is more spacious and open, expanding Da Lat's urban space and ensuring sustainability," said Dr. Son.
