“It's time for the super-rich to pay their fair share of taxes,” Biden told hundreds of workers in Pennsylvania.

In front of hundreds of workers, Mr. Biden said politicians in Washington have shown little interest in supporting unions.

“There are a lot of politicians in this country who can’t say the word ‘union.’ I’m not one of them. I’m proud to say it, I’m proud to be the most pro-union president in American history,” he said.

The president described blue-collar workers as the backbone of the economy. “When the middle class thrives, everyone thrives,” he said.

Mr. Biden also said that legal reform is needed to ensure middle-class prosperity, including reforming the “unfair” tax code.

“How can it be fair that the 55 largest corporations in America pay no federal income tax on $40 billion in profits?” he said.

The US leader noted that the number of US billionaires has increased to about 1,000. They are paying an average of 8% in federal taxes on their income.

“They pay lower taxes than teachers, firefighters, and probably anyone in this room. It’s time for them to pay the minimum tax rate…” , he stressed.
