Some water sports performances include paragliding with fireworks, sailing, windsurfing, sup, dragon boat, jet board, flyboard performance, underwater art lighting performance... creating a lively atmosphere and introducing the diversity of the city's sports. On the opening night, in the high space of the Saigon River area (in front of Nguyen Hue Street), Ho Chi Minh City displayed 2,000 drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) flying high and forming a symbolic image representing the development process of the City, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. After the drone performance, at 9:30 p.m., Ho Chi Minh City also organized a fireworks display to end the festival night with a spectacular music background for 15 minutes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized that the "Colors of Uncle Ho's City" Festival is not only a simple cultural and artistic event but also has profound political and historical significance, an opportunity for the people of the city and the whole country to honor the value of independence and freedom, and pay tribute to the generations of ancestors who died for the country. This is an opportunity for the City to proudly introduce to domestic and international friends a dynamic, creative, and unique urban area - a place where the national spirit and aspirations for the future converge.
In addition to the activities taking place throughout the 4 days and nights of April 30, in Ho Chi Minh City, there will be a special cavalry parade and performance organized by the Ministry of Public Security on Nguyen Hue walking street in the direction of Ton Duc Thang - Lotus Fountain (intersection of Nguyen Hue - Le Loi) and vice versa.
The city will have a community art performance called “Khan Ran Dance” in a community interaction style that creates a ripple effect in a large space. This activity takes place on Nguyen Hue walking street and the area in front of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the area around the Lotus Fountain. The performance will create the image of the Khan Ran, a sacred object associated with Southern culture and the resistance wars against invaders. This is also a profound cultural symbol of the Southern people.
Also on the night of April 30, Ho Chi Minh City will display 10,500 drones flying overhead from 8:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. to set a Vietnamese record for the largest number of drones flying at one time. The fireworks display will take place immediately afterwards./.
