The People's Committee of Mo Duc District has forcibly reclaimed over 2,000 square meters of land previously leased for a shrimp farming project, which had expired, to hand over to the investor for the construction of the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project.

On November 21st, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Mo Duc District, Pham Ngoc Lan, stated that through the enforcement process, the district had publicly announced and posted the enforcement decision and proceeded to reclaim an area of over 2,000 square meters of land located within the corridor of the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road.

Mo Duc District has completed the forced eviction and land reclamation of over 2,000 square meters to serve the construction of the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project.

"The entire cleared land area for the project has been handed over. The assets on the land of the shrimp farming project have been removed. All obstacles regarding land clearance on the section from Km 74+334 to Km 74+848 have been resolved, and the route is open. This enforcement action is primarily to reclaim land for the construction of the coastal road project," Mr. Lan said.

Regarding the remaining area of approximately 30 hectares, which Quang Ngai province leased to Binh An Energy Investment Joint Stock Company but whose lease has expired, the province has issued a decision to reclaim the land. The district will continue to work with the investor and organize the forced land reclamation in the near future.

"The district will resolutely reclaim the land in accordance with the province's policy to implement the new project," Mr. Lan said.

Previously, Giao Thong Newspaper published an article titled "Coastal road project delayed due to shrimp farming project," reflecting the reality that the Dung Quat - Sa Huynh coastal road project could not be completed due to land acquisition issues related to a shrimp farming project covering an area of over 2,000 square meters.

At the same time, Binh An Energy Investment Joint Stock Company's land lease for nearly 31 hectares expired on May 13, 2024, but the company did not return the land to Quang Ngai province as stipulated in the land lease agreement. Instead, it stubbornly continued to occupy the land despite the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee issuing a decision to reclaim it and refusing to allow the company to continue leasing it.
