On August 24, former US President Donald Trump was arrested at a prison in Georgia on charges of conspiring to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state. Mr. Trump was present at the prison for about 20 minutes and was released after posting bail of $200,000.
Former President Trump’s motorcade arrived at the prison on the evening of August 24 (local time) about 30 minutes after his private plane landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Fulton County. Some of his supporters gathered outside the prison, including Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.
The 77-year-old former president was photographed with the inmate number P01135809. He was at the jail for about 20 minutes and was released after posting bail. His motorcade then left the jail for Hartsfield-Jackson Airport to leave Georgia.

Earlier, CNN reported that Mr. Trump had agreed to appear in court and post $200,000 bail in Georgia. According to the indictment, Mr. Trump committed a criminal offense by leading a group of 18 people who sought to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in this state. Thus, Mr. Trump is now facing 4 indictments, while he is accelerating his 2024 presidential campaign.
Several of the 18 individuals indicted along with Mr. Trump have also appeared in court.
On August 17, lawyers requested to postpone Mr. Trump's trial until April 2026.
