Will the former captain of the Thai national team replace coach Gong Oh Kyun to take over the Hanoi Police Club?

Many sources confirmed that coach Gong Oh Kyun lost his coaching rights at Hanoi Police Club after a series of 4 winless matches in V-League 2023-24.

The leaders of the Hanoi Police Club were very dissatisfied with the team's performance during the time led by coach Gong Oh Kyun.

Specifically, Hanoi Police only got 2 points after 4 matches, currently ranking 8th on the V-League rankings.

The goal of the Police team this season is to defend the championship and "attack" the continental arena, so the above achievement is unacceptable.

In particular, the reverse loss to Khanh Hoa (one of the weakest teams in the V-League and facing a financial crisis) was the last straw, causing coach Gong Oh Kyun to no longer be in the plans of the reigning V-League champions.

One of the moves made by the team's leadership was to not use coach Gong Oh Kyun's team, instead letting former coach Tran Tien Dai take temporary charge. This decision was made on the evening of December 23.

Thus, in the upcoming round 8 of V-League, coach Gong Oh Kyun will not appear on the coaching bench of Hanoi Police Club.

The Korean strategist will also soon have his contract terminated, and the person sitting in the "hot seat" at Hanoi Police Club is a familiar face.

If nothing changes, former Thailand national team captain Mano Polking will go to Hanoi on January 5 to take over the head coach position at Hanoi Police.

This is the coach that the police team has been pursuing for a long time, but for many reasons the two sides have not been able to "get married".

For Coach Gong Oh Kyun, it is clear that having to say goodbye to Hanoi Police Club early was not planned. After the loss to Khanh Hoa, the Korean coach said he was not under any pressure from the possibility of being fired, but was still working with the team towards better results.

However, the harshness of the V-League is much greater than when this coach successfully led the U23 Vietnam team, causing Mr. Gong to experience failure in his first time working in the Vietnamese national championship.
