On December 23, information from Da Nang Hospital, doctors of the Department of Digestive Surgery, Da Nang Hospital have just successfully performed surgery to help Mr. Doan Van T (born in 1966, from Quang Ngai City, Quang Ngai Province) who had been carrying a "tumor" of more than 5kg in his abdomen for many years.
Previously, Mr. T. was hospitalized in a state of fatigue, prolonged abdominal pain, and difficulty walking and performing daily activities. Through examination and paraclinical tests, doctors discovered a large tumor in the abdomen, causing compression of internal organs, seriously affecting his health.
The surgery was performed by a team of doctors from many different specialties such as: Anesthesia, Resuscitation, Gastroenterology, Thoracic Surgery and Urology, with close cooperation to ensure maximum safety for the patient. Because the surgical area was very large and the tumor compressed important organs, the doctors had to operate very skillfully and precisely during the dissection process. After nearly 3 hours of surgery, the tumor was completely removed, leaving no complications.
Dr. Tran Van Nghia, Department of Gastroenterology, who directly performed the surgery, said: “The tumor was large and compressed many important organs, making dissection and removal particularly difficult. We had to operate very carefully to preserve the surrounding organs and ensure maximum safety for the patient.”
According to doctors, lipomas can appear in many places in the body such as under the skin or in the abdomen. However, if not detected and treated promptly, the tumor can grow to a large size, causing dangerous complications.
Doctors recommend that people who experience symptoms such as prolonged abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea or abdominal pain should immediately go to medical facilities for timely examination and treatment to avoid serious complications.
