President Vo Van Thuong has signed a decision to strip the rank of People's Public Security officer of Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police (on leave pending retirement).
Previously, in early April, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency concluded its investigation, proposing to prosecute Mr. Tuan and 53 others for 5 crimes: Bribery, Bribery brokerage, Bribery acceptance, Fraudulent appropriation of property and Abuse of position and power while performing official duties.
In the investigation conclusion of the Ministry of Public Security on the case that occurred at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hanoi City and other provinces and cities, the Security Investigation Agency proposed that the Supreme People's Procuracy prosecute Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, former Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, for the crime of Bribery Brokerage, with the brokerage amount of 2.65 million USD - equivalent to nearly 61.7 billion VND.
Mr. Tuan was identified as having a relationship with Hoang Van Hung (former Head of Investigation Department, Department of Security Investigation, Ministry of Public Security), so he acted as a "bridge" to help Nguyen Thi Thanh Hang (General Director of Blue Sky Tourism Company and Travel Sky Joint Stock Company) and Le Hong Son (Deputy General Director of Blue Sky Tourism Company) avoid criminal prosecution.
Specifically, from January to December 2022, the former Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police agreed to be an intermediary and receive money from Hang. After that, Mr. Tuan contacted, met, influenced and gave money to Hung to "take care" of Hang and Son.
The investigation results determined that the former Deputy Director of Police received a total of 2.65 million USD from Hang. Of this amount, Mr. Tuan confessed to having used 400,000 USD and gave the rest to Hung.
During the investigation, the Ministry of Public Security assessed that Mr. Tuan confessed honestly, helping the Security Investigation Agency clarify many details of the case. In addition, Mr. Tuan's family also paid 460,000 USD to remedy the consequences.
