Specifically, at 11:30 p.m. on April 19, Lai Chau Provincial Police received a report that a British tourist was lost in Hoang Lien National Park, on the border between Lai Chau and Lao Cai provinces.
Immediately after receiving the information, Lai Chau Provincial Police directed forces, mobilizing more than 50 officers and soldiers from the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (Lai Chau Police), Tam Duong District Police, and medical staff to coordinate with rescue forces of Lao Cai Provincial Police, Sa Pa Town Police... to search for the victim all night long.
Using professional measures, the rescue team searched all night long. At 8:06 a.m. on April 20, the rescue team of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police found the lost tourist at the edge of the forest at the top of O Quy Ho Pass (in Son Binh Commune, Tam Duong District, Lai Chau Province).
A quick check on the spot showed that the victim was only tired, had several small scratches on his body, and his phone was out of battery. The rescue team immediately provided drinks, food, and encouraged the tourists to stabilize their spirits.

It is known that the lost tourist is Henwood Josheph Thomas, 18 years old, British nationality, traveling to Vietnam alone; went into Hoang Lien National Park to explore from 8:00 a.m. on April 19, started to get lost and disoriented at 11:30 p.m. the same day.
At the victim's request, the rescue team took the victim to a hotel in Sa Pa. Immediately after stabilizing his mental and physical health, in the afternoon of the same day, tourist Thomas wrote a "THANKS LETTER" expressing his joy and gratitude, very grateful to the police force, this was his first time coming to Vietnam, encountered an unfortunate incident but was wholeheartedly helped by the Vietnamese police force, leaving a beautiful memory of the trip.
