Two young men were sentenced to prison for robbing old people selling lottery tickets.

On June 4, the People's Court of An Khe town (Gia Lai province) opened a first-instance trial and sentenced Vo Xuan Chien (21 years old, residing in Thuong Giang 1 village, Tay Giang commune, Tay Son district, Binh Dinh) to 54 months in prison and Nguyen Ngoc Giau (27 years old, residing in An Trung commune, Kong Chro district) to 42 months in prison for robbery.

According to the case file, at 8:00 a.m. on November 9, 2022, Nguyen Ngoc Giau drove a motorbike with license plate number 81G1-074.67 carrying Vo Xuan Chien from Tay Son district (Binh Dinh province) to Yang Nam commune (Kong Chro district, Gia Lai province) with the purpose of finding a lottery ticket seller to rob.

When arriving at the intersection of Nguyen Thiep - Dong Da street (in group 4, Tay Son ward, An Khe town), Chien and Giau discovered that Mr. D.TH (88 years old, residing in An Khe town) was selling lottery tickets, so Chien got out of the car and robbed Mr. H. of 310,000 VND, then got in the car and escaped.

Then, on November 10, 2022, using the same trick, Chien snatched 960,000 VND from an old woman DTK (77 years old, residing in An Khe town) who was selling lottery tickets at Hoa Vien Quang Trung (in group 3, Tay Son ward, An Khe town).
