Mr. Nguyen Van Huong informed about the strong cold air mass that is about to spread to the North.
The North has just experienced the two coldest days in the strongest cold spell since the beginning of winter. It is forecasted that today and tomorrow, December 11, the temperature in this area will increase slightly, with warm sunshine in the afternoon and cold weather at night and in the morning.
Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that around the afternoon and night of December 11, the North will be affected by the northeast monsoon. From December 12-14, cold air will continuously increase, causing the temperature to continue to decrease.
"We estimate that around December 14-15, the mountainous and midland areas of the North are likely to experience severe cold, with average daily temperatures dropping below 15 degrees Celsius.
With such a drop in temperature, in addition to the impact on human health, crops and livestock are also affected. People in the mountainous and midland areas of the North need to have a plan to keep warm, take care of livestock and poultry as well as protect crops, and provide adequate cover for plants that are not heat-resistant," Mr. Huong warned.

In addition to the cold and falling temperatures, according to Mr. Huong's assessment, from the night of December 10 to December 15, the impact of cold air combined with easterly wind disturbances in the Central and South Central regions, with a focus from Quang Tri to Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa, is likely to cause widespread moderate and heavy rain, affecting people's agricultural production activities.
Specifically, from the night of December 10 to the night of December 11, Thua Thien Hue to Khanh Hoa will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 70-150mm, some places over 250mm.
From December 12, the Central and South Central regions will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 50-100mm, in some places over 150mm.
At sea, strong winds will occur in most of the northern and central East Sea. In particular, the northern and central East Sea, the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago, the Gulf of Tonkin, and the waters from Quang Tri to Binh Thuan will have strong northeast winds of level 6-7, with waves of 3-5m high, causing rough seas.
