Eleven-year-old Adhara Pérez Sánchez, an autistic girl with an IQ higher than Albert Einstein, completed her Master's degree after a troubled childhood. In 2019, at the age of 8, Adhara was named one of the 100 most powerful women in Mexico by Forbes Mexico.

Childhood bullied by friends, ignored by teachers

Child prodigy Adhara was born in 2011 into an ordinary family in a low-income residential area in the capital Mexico City (Mexico).

Despite facing bullying, Adhara graduated from elementary school at the age of five and completed secondary school in just one year.

At the age of three, Adhara was diagnosed with a developmental disability after her speech ability significantly declined.

Adhara was still innocently unaware of her differences, and it was only when she reached school age that the real nightmare began. Adhara's mother, Nallely Sanchez, revealed that her daughter had to change schools three times and had to overcome many hardships in school life.

While at school, Adhara was often bullied and taunted as "weird" and "eccentric". "One day, Pérez was playing in a model house when her friends locked the door, locked her inside and beat the house loudly. I didn't want my daughter to suffer like that" , Ms. Nallely recalled.

"The teachers were not very sympathetic, they always told me that they wished Adhara could complete her assignments. She sensed it and started to isolate herself, not wanting to play with her classmates." She also revealed that Adhara was very depressed because people did not sympathize.

Despite the difficulties, Adhara completed primary school at age 5, secondary school at age 6 and high school at age 8, according to The People. However, intentionally or unintentionally, the teachers at the school did not discover her talent.

On the doctor's advice, Adhara's family sent their daughter to a talent development center for special students.

At the age of 11, after taking an IQ test at school, the Mexican girl achieved an impressive score of 162 - higher than the scores of the great physicist Albert Einstein and famous physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking.

Ms Nallely said her daughter's achievements today sent a strong message to the teachers in her class - who had given up and abandoned her during her most difficult times.

From this point on, Adhara’s life changed dramatically. She received an education appropriate to her level and was no longer considered “different.”

Dream of 'picking stars' in the sky

She holds a bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering from CNCI University (Mexico) and has just completed a master's degree in Mathematics at the Technological University of Mexico. This is an amazing achievement for a girl who is only 11 years old.

In addition to her studies, Adhara also wrote a book about her own experiences called “Don’t give up”. She also researched and developed a smart bracelet that can monitor children’s emotions, predict and prevent epilepsy and some other diseases.

Adhara aims to continue studying Astrophysics, with dreams of working at NASA and becoming an astronaut to explore Mars.

Sharing about her future plans, Adhara dreams of going to the US to take the entrance exam to the University of Arizona, her dream school with a major in Astrophysics. The child genius hopes to become an astronaut in the future.

Coincidentally, Adhara's name is Arc 7, which means the second brightest star in the constellation Canis Major (the constellation Canis Major is one of Ptolemy's 48 classical constellations and one of the 88 modern constellations).

I want to go into space and land on Mars,” she said. “If you don’t like where you are, imagine where you want to be. I see myself at NASA, so it’s worth trying.”

The Mexican girl is now promoting space exploration and mathematics to young students of the Mexican Space Agency, reports French magazine Marie Clarie.

Adhara is now on the verge of a major milestone. She is in the final stages of completing her G-tests—a rigorous series of tests that will pave the way for her to join NASA as a young scientist. If successful, Adhara will make history as the first autistic person to fly into space—an achievement that breaks barriers and shatters stereotypes.

The fairy tale, which continues to be written by Adhara Pérez Sánchez, demonstrates that age is no barrier to achievement and that the human mind is fully capable of extraordinary feats. It also highlights the importance of recognising and nurturing talent, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Determination and strong belief will certainly help the Mexican girl achieve her dream of "picking stars" in the sky.
