Breathtaking chase in Hue: Nick Kergozou wins the sprint again

The 9th stage of the Ho Chi Minh City Television Cup (HTV) - Ton Dong A 2025 cycling race took place in Hue City on April 12 with 20 laps, total distance of 42 km. The flat road surface created favorable conditions for the teams to accelerate, aiming to attack the title. Many people of the ancient capital stood along both sides of the road to cheer, adding to the racing spirit of the racers.

In the first laps, four riders Nguyen Truc Xinh (HCMC New Group), Ngo Thanh Sang (Dopagan Dong Thap), Nguyen Pham Quoc Khang (Pelio Kenda Dong Nai) and Ha Kieu Tan Dai (Binh Minh Binh Duong Plastic) successfully separated from the group. However, the gap with the large group behind was not safe enough. Nguyen Pham Quoc Khang won the first sprint point in lap 6 before being caught again.

Then, Ngo Van Phuong (Hanoi) launched an individual attack and won the second sprint but was quickly caught up by the larger group. Teams 620 Nong Nghiep Vinh Long and 620 Chau Thoi Vinh Long continuously took turns keeping the rhythm and controlling the speed. Meanwhile, Duoc Domesco Dong Thap protected the Yellow Jersey for Loic Desriac and Loc Troi An Giang Group protected the Orange Jersey for Nguyen Tan Hoai.

Nick Kergozou suddenly broke away in the final meters, passing like an arrow to finish first.

The dramatic sprint reached its climax when Yellow Jersey Loic Desriac suddenly attacked a few hundred meters from the finish line. While strong riders such as Nguyen Tan Hoai, Savva Novikov, Nguyen Van Binh... were accelerating to chase, Nick Kergozou suddenly broke away in the final meters, passing like an arrow to reach the finish line first. This was the 5th time the New Zealand rider won the stage, continuing to firmly hold the Green Jersey title for the "sprint king".

Dang Van Phap (620 Chau Thoi Vinh Long) finished second, securing the White Jersey for the outstanding young racer. Nguyen Tan Hoai (Loc Troi An Giang Group) finished third, successfully defending the Orange Jersey. The prestigious Yellow Jersey still belonged to Loic Desriac after stage 9.

Before the competition, the Organizing Committee and sponsors donated nearly 420 million VND to charity activities in Hue. Of which, representatives of Ton Dong A supported 400 million VND to A Luoi district, Nguyen Chi Thanh Scholarship Fund and Hue Hieu Hoc Education Fund. Phuoc Dung Trading Company Limited - Ton Dong A Distributor - also awarded scholarships of 20 million VND to disadvantaged students of Thuan Hoa 1 Primary School.

Tomorrow, April 13, the race will begin stage 10 from Hue City to Da Nang with a route of 113 km. This is an important race, predicted to be fierce with three passes: Phuoc Tuong, Phu Gia and Hai Van - where the racers will fiercely compete for the title of red polka dot jersey "king of the mountain".
