Together promote the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future

On the afternoon of July 11, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Comrade Hung Ba, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Vietnam, who came to say goodbye on the occasion of preparing to end his term of office in Vietnam.

In an atmosphere of friendship, cordiality, openness and trust, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chinese Ambassador Hung Ba looked back and expressed joy at the positive developments and historical milestones in the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China during his term of office in Vietnam.

Congratulating Ambassador Hung Ba on successfully completing his term of office in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his recognition and appreciation for Ambassador Hung Ba's positive and important contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, especially the outstanding results in a number of aspects such as: promoting and successfully arranging many visits by high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and countries, including two historic mutual visits by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in October 2022 and General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in December 2023. The framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two countries continues to be deepened and enhanced, and the two sides agreed to build a "Community of Shared Future". Vietnam-China strategic significance”.

Substantive cooperation in various fields has achieved many important results. Vietnam and China remain each other's leading trade partners; China's investment in Vietnam has increased sharply. The two countries have actively supported and helped each other overcome the Covid-19 pandemic. China is one of the countries that provides the most and fastest vaccines to Vietnam. People-to-people exchanges and tourism cooperation have become increasingly close and effective; mutual understanding and friendship between the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, have been enhanced; the number of Vietnamese students studying in China has doubled compared to 5 years ago; tourism cooperation is recovering positively.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chinese Ambassador Hung Ba also had in-depth and comprehensive discussions on measures to continue effectively implementing and concretizing the two Vietnam-China high-level Joint Statements, and jointly promoting the building of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance according to the common perception of the "6 more" of the two sides' senior leaders.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that the relevant agencies of both sides closely coordinate and promptly implement the contents agreed upon by both sides during the working visit. WEF Dalian Conference and the Prime Minister's recent visit to China; continue to strengthen political trust, maintain regular high-level exchanges; promote exchanges and cooperation between the Party, Government, National Assembly, Fatherland Front, in the fields of diplomacy, defense, public security and between localities; organize well the 16th meeting of the Steering Committee for Vietnam-China bilateral cooperation; promote substantive cooperation in various fields, request China to increase imports of Vietnamese goods, agricultural and aquatic products; cooperate in building a number of standard gauge railways connecting Vietnam-China; connect border traffic infrastructure, upgrade border gates, cooperate in border economic cooperation, restore tourism cooperation...; coordinate well in managing the land border; strengthen people-to-people exchanges, promote propaganda about the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China, consolidate a solid social foundation for the development of bilateral relations; continue to maintain close coordination, cooperation and mutual support in multilateral mechanisms and forums.

Expressing his agreement with the directions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Ambassador Hung Ba sincerely thanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Government, ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam for creating favorable conditions for the Ambassador to successfully complete his duties during his term in Vietnam; and congratulated Vietnam, under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, for achieving great and important achievements in all fields, especially in socio-economic development.

Sharing his joy at the important and historic developments in the relationship between the two Parties and countries in recent times, Ambassador Hung Ba affirmed that he will continue to promote his important role as a bridge, urging ministries, branches and localities of both sides to well implement the common perception of the Senior Leaders, promote the comprehensive and profound development of the relationship between the two countries, and continue to actively contribute to building the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.

Ambassador Hung Ba expressed that after finishing his term in Vietnam, no matter what position he holds, he will always carry with him good memories and feelings about the country and people of Vietnam.

Regarding maritime issues, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides comply with the important common perception of the Senior Leaders, the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Vietnam and China, international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS); continue to promote the role of maritime negotiation mechanisms, and well control the situation at sea in accordance with the new position of bilateral relations.
