On the afternoon of November 27, in Hanoi, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee warmly received a delegation of prestigious people from A Luoi district (Thua Thien Hue province) on the occasion of the delegation's visit to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.

Also attending were Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and 18 delegates who are prestigious representatives of A Luoi district.

Visiting the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of A Luoi district, said that with the attention of the Central Government and Thua Thien Hue province, along with the efforts and determination of the entire political system and promoting the spirit of great solidarity of the people in the district, the lives of ethnic minorities have had many positive changes. The average income per capita reached 40.61 million VND/person/year. People have access to essential utilities in education, health care, information, etc. The work of building new rural areas has been focused on implementation. By the end of 2024, the total number of criteria in the district will reach 256 criteria/17 communes, an average of 15.5 criteria/commune, with 4 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards and 12 villages in extremely difficult communes recognized as meeting new rural standards.

In recent years, A Luoi has benefited from large resources from the National Target Programs on sustainable poverty reduction; new rural construction and the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Thanks to that, from one of the 74 national poor districts with a poverty rate of 49.98% at the end of 2021, the poverty rate of the whole district has now decreased to 13.65% and the Prime Minister signed Decision 702/QD-TTg on July 22, 2024 recognizing A Luoi as escaping from the national poor district in 2024.

According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, the above results were achieved thanks to the local Party Committee and government doing a good job of promoting the role of prestigious people among ethnic minorities. In the whole district of A Luoi, there are 84 prestigious people. Under the leadership of the Party Committees and government at all levels, prestigious people among ethnic minorities have regularly done a good job of propagating and mobilizing people, especially ethnic minorities, to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and local regulations, building a great national unity bloc; promptly exchanging information, reflecting the thoughts and aspirations of the masses to the Party Committees and government at all levels; calling on and mobilizing people to actively respond to the movements "All people unite to build a cultural life", "All people protect national security", especially the movement "No poor households, no drugs in clans, villages" launched by the locality. Thereby, it has changed the awareness of ethnic minorities in production and business, rising out of poverty, preserving and promoting traditional cultural identity, and actively participating in maintaining security and order in the locality.

Expressing his joy and excitement at welcoming the delegation of prestigious people from A Luoi district to the common house of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, on behalf of the Party Delegation, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and with personal feelings, Chairman Do Van Chien sent the delegation his respectful greetings, warm feelings and wished the delegation a successful visit to the capital Hanoi.

According to Chairman Do Van Chien, during the two resistance wars of the nation, A Luoi district was a revolutionary base, the people of the district wholeheartedly followed the Party and the revolution. After years of hardship, up to now the district has escaped from being a poor district of the country, the people's lives have been improved, and the border markers have been firmly maintained. These results are thanks to the efforts of prestigious people in the area, each of whom has encouraged the people to unite, develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and take care of their children going to school to create a foundation to build the district more and more prosperous.

To continue promoting these results, Chairman Do Van Chien hopes that in the coming time, prestigious and exemplary people will continue to promote propaganda and mobilization so that people in the district continue to promote the spirit of solidarity: solidarity between the majority and ethnic minorities, solidarity between ethnic minorities, solidarity between ethnic people in the district and ethnic people from other places, solidarity to develop the economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and move towards getting rich; protect the environment, protect forests, protect the border, border markers for peace, friendship and development.

Chairman Do Van Chien suggested that, with his role, the prestigious person of A Luoi district continues to mobilize people to eliminate backward customs and practices, preserve the good cultural identity of the nation to build A Luoi district into a district that develops tourism, increasing income for local people.

“No matter how difficult it is, we must send our children to school, learn a trade, and learn about socio-economic development models to build our homeland to become more and more prosperous,” Chairman Do Van Chien wishes.

On this occasion, Chairman Do Van Chien suggested that prestigious people in A Luoi district continue to promote propaganda and mobilize people to respond to emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, especially to participate in building prosperous and happy residential areas; at the same time, accompany the Party Committee, the government, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front to be determined to complete the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households and households in difficult circumstances in the district by 2025.

Sending best wishes to the delegation, Chairman Do Van Chien hopes that in the coming time, A Luoi district will develop more and more, and the people will have a prosperous and happy life. Especially, Thua Thien Hue province, when becoming a class I city, will become a developed province, attracting tourists to visit the ancient capital and creating a prominent mark of the country.
