Krong Bong district is a remote area with a high proportion of ethnic minorities and people's lives are still difficult.
As a teacher at Hoa Phong Secondary School (Hoa Phong Commune), Ms. Nguyen Thi Chung understands better than anyone the difficulties that the students here are going through. Many of them are not able to go to school due to their circumstances or health.
From love and the desire to share with the students, she and some members (mainly teachers and police officers) in Krong Bong district actively mobilized from benefactors to create resources to help students.
The volunteer group "Understanding and Loving Krong Bong" presented support money from benefactors from the project "Raising Children to School" to poor students of Hoa Le Primary and Secondary School. |
Ms. Chung, Vice President of the "Understanding and Loving Krong Bong" Volunteer Group, shared: “Sharing the same idea, the members have connected with each other and searched for difficult circumstances, quietly supporting them since 2012. With the support of the Krong Bong District Youth Union, many circumstances have been supported promptly. By 2019, the "Understanding and Loving Krong Bong" Volunteer Group with 20 members was officially established and affiliated with the national volunteer network in the Central Highlands region. Since then, the "Nuoi em den truong" project has been spread and brought closer to poor students in the district."
Instead of mobilizing large-scale donations, the project calls on each individual and family to adopt a child in especially difficult circumstances, orphans, children with serious illnesses... with a support amount of 300,000 VND/month. The group will provide full images and information about the circumstances of the children to the recipients to create attachment, closeness and trust to accompany the children for a long time. The group is currently coordinating with the Krong Bong District Youth Union and kind-hearted people to support 90 students in the district and hopes to be able to accompany and support the children until they finish middle school and high school.
Chang Thi Ha (grade 5, Cu Pui 2 Primary School) receives monthly support from the project "Bringing children to school". |
In addition to the support from the project, every year the members of the "Understanding and Loving Krong Bong" Volunteer Group also raise funds to donate school bags, books, notebooks, bicycles, etc. to the children. Although the support is not large, it has helped make the journey of knowledge for students in remote areas less difficult.
Thanks to the support of the "Understanding and Loving Krong Bong" Volunteer Group, for the past two years, Chang Thi Ha (grade 5, Cu Pui 2 Primary School) has been adopted by a benefactor. Right from birth, she was diagnosed with a hemangioma, and the tumor grew larger and larger, deforming her face and neck. The tumor grew larger and larger, blocking her airway and making it more difficult for her to move her arms and legs, affecting her daily life and studies. Not only that, she also lost her mother at a young age, and her family's finances depended on her father's meager income from working for hire, so they lacked everything. "The torment of illness, along with my inferiority complex with my friends, sometimes made me want to drop out of school. But thanks to everyone's love and encouragement, I was motivated to fight the disease, continue to go to school and play with my friends," Ha confided.
Also receiving support from the project, the situation of Y Da Ciut Byă (grade 2, Cu Drăm Primary School) made many people feel sorry. His mother died early, his father remarried, and Y Da's four siblings had to live with their aunt. Because of the difficult family situation, Y Da's older brother had to drop out of school to work far away to support his younger siblings. His older sister also had to drop out of school to work on the farm to help her aunt to support Y Da and her youngest sibling to go to school. Being adopted and receiving monthly financial support has helped Y Da ease his difficulties and study hard to improve his life.
According to the assessment of the Krong Bong District Youth Union, the project "Nuoi em den truong" not only provides practical support for poor students in remote areas but also positively changes the awareness of many parents in the education work in the locality, especially in ethnic minority areas. Parents are willing to send their children to school more regularly, helping to strengthen the relationship between schools and parents. With the desire for the project to continue to spread, the Krong Bong District Youth Union is coordinating with the "Understanding and Loving Krong Bong" Volunteer Group to actively mobilize benefactors to accompany and support many students to overcome their circumstances and continue their dream of going to school.
