Strengthening and enhancing the relationship between the Vietnam and Thailand Friendship Associations

NDO - On September 11, in Da Nang , the 12th Conference between the Executive Boards of the Vietnam-Thailand and Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Associations took place. The program was organized by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association.

Overview of the 12th Conference.

This conference is part of a series of events that the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association will hold in 2023, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the two countries establishing a strategic partnership (2013-2023).

The Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership has entered its 10th year, with increasingly strong and dynamic vitality in all areas of cooperation between the two countries in economics, culture, tourism, education, defense, security and foreign affairs.

Speaking at the Conference, Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, former member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, said: “Our two Associations have gone through 12 joint conferences. Our two Associations appreciate the achievements they have made in the past, the cooperative relationship is increasingly developing, contributing practically to consolidating and strengthening the enhanced strategic partnership between the two countries.

This Joint Conference is also an opportunity for us to evaluate the results achieved in a year with lessons learned, and at the same time discuss and agree on the work to be implemented in the remaining months of 2023 and 2024.

This is also the first Joint Conference held after the 5th Congress of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association. The Conference will open a new chapter in the Association's activities and lay a solid foundation for the entire 2022-2027 term.

Mr. Sanan Angubolkul, President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Trade Council, President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, shared: “We have had a long-standing cooperative relationship, which is a solid foundation for us to continue to develop a sustainable relationship so that both countries and the friendship association can promote practical cooperation issues that bring efficiency to the people and the country.

We will continue to discuss with the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association on cooperation issues in the coming time. We are interested in real estate investment, tourism, and food. We are confident that with the 12th meeting, we will continue to work together to promote issues of mutual interest."

The President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association believes that with the right decisions, the Central Committees of the two Associations will develop cooperative relations, not only related to people-to-people exchanges, but also related to politics, education, social issues, especially related to supporting start-up projects.

According to Mr. Ho Ky Minh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, this conference is also an opportunity for Da Nang to promote the image of a friendly, hospitable and livable city as well as opportunities for cooperation and investment in Da Nang to all delegates from both countries.

Through this, Mr. Minh hopes that the delegates will be an active and effective bridge to bring Thai investors and domestic investors to Da Nang. “The leaders of Da Nang city commit to support and create maximum conditions for Thai investors and domestic investors to implement projects and do business effectively in Da Nang. I believe that after this conference, the friendly and cooperative relations between Da Nang and Thai localities will have positive changes through the promotional bridge of the delegates; the active and effective connection of central agencies and Da Nang city”, said Mr. Minh.

Vietnam and Thailand are two neighboring countries with long-standing diplomatic relations. With close geographical locations, many similarities in customs and foreign policies, Vietnam and Thailand have favorable conditions to develop bilateral, multilateral and regional relations.

In 2023, the two countries will celebrate the 47th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1976-2023) and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership (2013-2023). This is an important foundation to create momentum to bring the friendship and cooperation between the two countries to new heights.
