The President affirmed that the people of Vietnam and Chile are bound together by solidarity and friendship as well as sharing sacred values and ideas of independence, freedom, peace, equality and justice.
During his official visit to Chile, on the afternoon of November 10 (local time), President Luong Cuong warmly received the delegation of the Chile-Vietnam Cultural Institute led by President Patricia Abarzua.
Speaking at the reception, President Luong Cuong expressed his pleasure to meet Ms. Patricia Abarzua, a great and long-time friend of the Vietnamese people, during her official visit to Chile at the invitation of President Gabriel Boric.
The President highly appreciated and respected the long-standing contributions of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Cultural Institute as well as the President herself to the relationship between the two countries, especially the good feelings that she and the members of the Institute have for the country and people of Vietnam; as well as the Institute's tireless efforts in enhancing the understanding of the Chilean people about Vietnam.
The President affirmed that although they are half a world apart, the people of Vietnam and Chile are always attached to each other by solidarity and friendship, as well as sharing sacred values and ideas about independence, freedom, peace, equality and justice.
Recalling the Institute's activities during the years when Vietnam had to endure many difficulties and challenges in the struggle for national independence, the President emphasized that Vietnam will never forget the sincere gestures, support and solidarity of the Chilean people for the just struggle of the Vietnamese people, especially the event when Ms. Patricia Abarzua directly participated in the march of hundreds of kilometers from the port city of Valparaiso to the capital Santiago in 1969 to express her support for the just struggle of the Vietnamese people.
Today, the President continues to work with members of the Institute to organize many activities to connect the Chilean people with Vietnam through many practical and diverse activities held in Chile.
The President expressed his hope that Ms. Patricia Abarzua and the Institute will continue to be a bridge to promote people-to-people exchange between Vietnam and Chile and continue to accompany friends to Vietnam to enhance the understanding of the people of Chile and South American countries about the culture, history, country and people of Vietnam.
The President also expressed his gratitude to the Chile-Vietnam Cultural Institute for always supporting and coordinating with the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile to organize many propaganda and promotional activities for Vietnam in the host country, especially on the occasion of major Vietnamese celebrations and many other cultural and educational events.
The President firmly believes that Ms. Patricia Abarzua will continue to play an effective bridging role, actively contributing to the development and further deepening of the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Chile.
The President also invited Ms. Patricia Abarzua and members of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Cultural Institute to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
Expressing her gratitude to the President for taking the time to meet her, Ms. Patricia Abarzua expressed her pleasure to be present at today's intimate meeting with members of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Cultural Institute, many of whom directly participated in the marches to protest the war in Vietnam.
The President of the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Cultural Institute affirmed that the life, revolutionary career and ideology of President Ho Chi Minh are an endless source of inspiration and a great encouragement for the struggle for liberation and independence of peoples in Latin America.
Along with that, Ms. Patricia Abarzua also mentioned President Ho Chi Minh with deep feelings and as a source of inspiration that brought deep love for the country and people of Vietnam that her generation has kept until now and will strive to pass on to the next generations of Chile.
Ms. Patricia Abarzua also agreed with the President on the special significance of promoting and educating the young generations of the two countries to better understand the tradition of friendship between the two peoples founded by President Ho Chi Minh and the late President Salvador Allende.
Ms. Patricia Abarzua affirmed that she will continue to work with members of the Institute to promote solidarity activities, acting as a bridge for Chilean people to better understand the country and people of Vietnam, especially the current national construction and development of Vietnam.
On the other hand, the Institute will also continue to innovate its operating methods, gradually recruiting new members from the younger generation of Chile to continue the tradition, actively contributing to strengthening and deepening the friendly relationship between the two countries./.
