The Ministry of Transport has just issued a document requesting consideration of the early retirement of Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
Previously, on December 9, Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, submitted an application for early retirement.

The Minister of Transport requested the leadership and Party Committee of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to give their written opinions on Mr. Thang's wish to retire early due to health reasons. At the same time, the Civil Aviation Authority and Mr. Dinh Viet Thang were requested to provide documents and records related to the decline in working capacity issued by competent authorities according to regulations, and send them to the Ministry of Transport before December 16. Mr. Dinh Viet Thang was appointed as Director of the Civil Aviation Authority to replace Mr. Lai Xuan Thanh from June 2017 until now. Mr. Thang used to hold the position of Deputy Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, before being transferred and appointed as Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation from March 2015 to June 2017. He has many years of experience in the aviation sector. During Mr. Thang's tenure as Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the aviation industry achieved safety certification according to FAA's CAT1 safety supervision standards. This is an important step towards opening direct flights between Vietnam and the US. Mr. Dinh Viet Thang was born in 1965 and graduated from university in the former Soviet Union with a major in air traffic management. He received a master's degree in administration in Belgium and is fluent in two foreign languages: English and Russian.
