TPO – Ancient rose gardens, some dating back decades to centuries, in Nam Dan district, Nghe An province are currently in full bloom, creating a beautiful scene that attracts tourists to visit and take photos for social media.
At the foot of Dai Hue Mountain, the persimmon orchards of the people of Nam Anh commune (Nam Dan district, Nghe An province) are laden with ripe, vibrant red fruit. For a long time, this place has been one of the destinations for tourists during the persimmon season because of its pristine mountain scenery interspersed with dreamy persimmon orchards. |
| Nam Anh commune currently has hundreds of households growing persimmon trees on an area of approximately 150 hectares. Each year, the entire commune harvests about 500 tons of fruit. With selling prices ranging from 20,000 to 30,000 VND, these persimmon orchards have brought significant income to the local people. |
According to the leaders of Nam Anh commune, persimmons in this commune are mainly grown at the foot and slopes of Dai Hue mountain. In recent years, in addition to harvesting and selling the fruit, the people have taken advantage of the beautiful scenery of the persimmon orchards to develop ecotourism , selling tickets to tourists to visit and take souvenir photos. |
With 40 persimmon trees that are decades old, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet's family (residing in Hamlet 7, Nam Anh Commune) expects to harvest about 150kg of persimmons this year. "If we pick them and sell them on the spot, the price is 20,000 VND/kg. If we pick them and soak them to make them crispy and sweet, we sell them for 30,000 VND. All the persimmons we pick are sold out," Mrs. Tuyet said, adding that on weekends, her family's persimmon orchard is always visited by tourists who come to take souvenir photos. |
The orchards of ripe persimmons at the foot of Mount Dai Hue attract a large number of tourists from both within and outside the province. |
The ancient rose bushes, covered in moss, are even more appealing to visitors. |
Besides leaving them in their natural state, some rose gardens have added tables and chairs, creating more scenic spots for visitors to take photos and check in when the roses are in bloom. |
Mr. Nguyen Trong Sach (residing in Vinh City, Nghe An province) – one of the pioneers in developing tourism from the ancient rose garden on Dai Hue mountain – shared that although the rose season has only just begun, on peak days there have already been hundreds of tourists visiting the garden to sightsee and take pictures. |
Besides the highlight being the centuries-old rose garden that creates a pristine beauty, Mr. Sach also provides many services to serve tourists, such as renting costumes and accessories, and photography services. |
The unspoiled natural scenery makes the rose garden a popular tourist attraction. |

According to the leaders of Nam Anh commune, persimmon yields this year are only average. However, the price of persimmons purchased by businesses is higher than last year, so the people are very happy. |
The persimmon orchards, which provide both fruit for harvest and tourism opportunities, have brought significant economic benefits to the local people. |
Besides Nam Anh commune, neighboring communes such as Nam Xuan and Nam Hung also have large areas of persimmon cultivation in Nam Dan district. Each year, these communes supply about 800 tons of persimmons to the market. |
