The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airlines to continue to allocate resources and adjust plans to increase flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City, especially the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a document to Vietnamese airlines regarding the increase in flight frequency to serve activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Continue to arrange increased flights
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, many national-level activities will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from April 20 to May 5, 2025. To serve the travel needs of delegates, working delegations, and people attending the events, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires airlines to continue to allocate resources and adjust plans to increase flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City, especially the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route.
“During the implementation process, if any problems arise, airlines must promptly report them for resolution,” the Civil Aviation Authority requested.
Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam issued a document directing Vietnamese airlines to improve service quality and aviation safety, ensuring good service for passenger travel needs during the April 30-May 1 holiday and the 2025 summer peak, especially flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City.
The Civil Aviation Authority requires airlines to allocate resources, develop plans to increase flights, and best meet passenger transportation needs; monitor sales on routes, promptly add flights on routes with high demand, and increase operations during off-peak hours and night hours.
In addition, airlines need to promptly notify the plan to increase flights to airports and aviation service providers to proactively unify and arrange resources for service and exploitation; carry out daily flight planning in accordance with granted flight permits and confirmed slots; proactively carry out propaganda and information work to passengers about the exploitation schedule...
Expected 21% increase in visitors
According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority, during the April 30-May 1 holiday, Vietnamese airlines are expected to operate 7,536 flights (an average of 685 flights/day), an increase of 21% over the same period last year; providing about 1.5 million seats. Of which, the largest proportion is flights to/from Ho Chi Minh City with 5,083 flights (an average of 462 flights/day).
For the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route alone, airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, up 16%; providing 305,000 seats. According to a survey, up to now, many domestic flights, despite high ticket prices, are always fully booked or have very few seats left.
According to information from Vietnam Airlines, towards the April 30 - May 1 holiday, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) will provide more than 610,000 seats, equivalent to more than 3,200 domestic flights, an increase of 35% and 29% respectively compared to the same period last year.
Accordingly, the increase in capacity is concentrated on key routes and tourism routes such as: between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and prominent destinations including: Da Nang, Can Tho, Phu Quoc, Hue, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Pleiku, Chu Lai, Dong Hoi... to meet the high travel demand during the big holidays. Currently, the flight occupancy rate on some routes reaches 70-80%.
