Fox News is scheduled to host a live debate between the two presidential candidates on October 24 or October 27, but former US President Donald Trump has declined the invitation to participate.
On October 9, on the social network Truth Social , Mr. Trump said that it was "too late" to hold a debate because voters had already gone to vote early.
Affirming that he would not participate in the second debate with Ms. Harris because "there is nothing to debate", the former President further explained that he had previously accepted Fox News ' invitation to debate on September 4, but Ms. Harris declined.
Mr. Trump has participated in two live debates, the first with US President Joe Biden in late June and then with Vice President Harris on the evening of September 10. Mr. Trump refused to participate in the debate with Ms. Harris on October 23 on CNN, even though she agreed to face him.
Meanwhile, the presidential campaign of US Vice President Kamala Harris and related political committees received great news when on October 9, statistics showed that they had raised $1 billion since Ms. Harris became the Democratic candidate in July.
Since Ms. Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee for the White House, the money pouring into her campaign and its affiliated political action committees and the Democratic Party has increased to a record level. On the day she was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate, she raised $25 million. That number increased to $500 million in just about a month.
For their part, former President Donald Trump and the Republicans raised $130 million in August, compared to $404 million for Harris and the Democrats.
The US presidential election is entering a fierce phase, with less than a month to go until the official vote on November 5. Vice President Harris and her Republican opponent, former President Trump, are in a tight race.
According to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll, Ms. Harris's lead over Mr. Trump nationwide is narrowing.
The money raised reflects donor enthusiasm ahead of the Nov. 5 election, and will be used for advertising, operations in battleground states and staffing costs, according to people familiar with the matter.
