(NLDO) - The voices of voters and people of Ho Chi Minh City were sent to the meeting of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, bringing with them many expectations for the government.
At the 20th session of the 10th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026, held on December 9, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy reported on the city government building activities in 2024.
The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee said that the city's people expressed their sorrow at the human and property losses that the people of the North had to endure due to the severe devastation caused by natural disasters and floods in recent times, especially storm No. 3.
The city's people strongly agreed and supported the Party and city government leaders in promptly implementing relief work, promoting the tradition of "HCM City with the whole country, for the whole country". Agencies, organizations, business communities, and people of all walks of life in the city joined hands to help the people of the North overcome the consequences of natural disasters, restore production, and stabilize life.

The noble gestures, benevolence, and solidarity for the sake of the nation and compatriots of the people of Ho Chi Minh City have continued to contribute to fostering the tradition and strength of great national unity of our country.
The city's people also acknowledged and highly appreciated the city government for its drastic direction and effective implementation of the resolutions and conclusions of the City Party Committee and the theme of the year "Determination to effectively implement digital transformation and Resolution 98/2023 of the National Assembly"; focusing on building specific mechanisms and policies for the city's development.
Regarding the economy, voters and people of the city highly appreciate that despite the difficulties rather than advantages, the city's economy continues to recover and achieves a gross domestic product growth rate of 7.17% in 2024. Many key transportation projects, especially the Metro railway project and the city's ring road, are being accelerated...
However, voters and people of the city are still concerned and worried about the slow progress of public investment disbursement, difficulties in attracting development investment, the number of newly registered enterprises decreasing, and the number of enterprises withdrawing from the market increasing. Voters hope that the city government will soon find the cause and have specific and strong enough solutions to solve the problem.
Voters and people acknowledge that the education sector has paid attention and listened to feedback on the situation of overcharging and improper revenue and expenditure at schools. Up to now, there has been a document directing the correction of overcharging at schools, maintaining the prestige of teachers and the purity of the educational environment.
However, voters and people are still worried and concerned about the high number of students in many educational institutions compared to regulations, leading to difficulties in implementing the 2018 General Education Program; they hope that the government will continue to invest in facilities and teaching equipment in a synchronous and modern direction to meet current teaching and learning requirements.
Regarding the land and real estate sector, voters and people of the city are excited that the Housing Law 2023, the Real Estate Business Law 2023, the Land Law 2024 and the Decrees guiding the implementation of the laws have officially taken effect from August 1, 2024 with many new regulations considered a big step forward in ensuring people's rights, promoting business activities and supporting Vietnamese people settling abroad.
We hope that the city government will soon issue legal documents according to its authority, thoroughly resolving the backlog in the past, especially the settlement for tens of thousands of people living in apartment buildings in the city who have not been granted certificates of ownership of property attached to land (pink books).
However, many voters are still concerned and worried about the ability to fulfill financial obligations calculated according to the new land price list, hoping that the city government will have appropriate policies, creating conditions for disadvantaged groups to be able to exercise their rights and obligations as land users according to regulations.
Streamlining the apparatus to enter the era of national growth
Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy said that along with the whole country, the city is actively implementing the streamlining of the organizational apparatus.
This is an important revolutionary decision of the Party to develop the country, bringing our country into a new era - the era of national growth.
During the arrangement process, it is recommended that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee pay attention to transferring responsibilities of units and individuals in charge and speed up the progress, effectively implement programs, works and emulation projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification, and practically establish achievements to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025 - 2030 term.
In particular, focusing on coordination and mobilization to effectively implement social welfare programs and projects, improve people's quality of life; effectively care for the poor and those in difficult circumstances; strive to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses before April 2025.
