Hong Ngu voters propose investment in transport infrastructure, support for poor households without land

On April 23, Mr. Tran Van Sau - Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap Province and Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh - Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society had a meeting with voters who are officials and civil servants of Hong Ngu District and Hong Ngu City. Also attending the meeting was Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Kieu The Lam.


Mr. Nguyen Hai Anh - Vice President, General Secretary of Vietnam Red Cross Society spoke at the meeting with voters of Hong Ngu district.

At the meeting, voters from both localities made many important recommendations related to local socio-economic development. Notably, the proposal to hire consultants to review construction planning projects, adjust local land use planning to suit reality, and decentralize and delegate more power to the communal police force was proposed.

In addition, voters suggested that it is necessary to invest in developing waterway transport infrastructure to enhance regional connectivity, and recommended that the Government and the Ministry of Transport soon deploy National Highway N1 and build Tan Chau Bridge.


Voters of Hong Ngu City make recommendations

Voters in Hong Ngu City reflected many urgent social issues such as: the need to increase the level of punishment to be enough to deter crimes, especially theft; strictly handle illegal drug users. Regarding poverty reduction, many poor households currently do not have land, leading to difficulties in implementing the policy of eliminating temporary housing. Voters suggested that there should be more realistic policies to help poor households have conditions to settle down. In addition, voters suggested studying and adjusting the education program appropriately after merging administrative units and partially adjusting the Land Law.

Acknowledging and absorbing voters' opinions, comrade Tran Van Sau - Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation expressed his respect for the voters' sense of responsibility and enthusiasm; at the same time, requested local leaders to do a good job of ideological work among cadres, civil servants and public employees to create consensus in the restructuring of the administrative apparatus.
