71-year-old man calls for doctor's help because leech crawled into his "private part"

On May 23, Dr. Tran Nguyen Lam - Head of the Nghia Loc Commune Health Station, Nghia Dan District (Nghe An) said that the unit's staff had just successfully removed a leech from the penis of a 71-year-old man.

At noon on May 22, the commune health station received Mr. NHT (71 years old) brought by his family. According to Mr. T., that morning he soaked in the pond to catch snails and discovered a leech crawling into his penis.

The old man returned home and tried to remove the leech but failed. Therefore, his family took him to the medical station. It took the medical staff 20 minutes to successfully remove the leech from his “penis”. After a period of observation, the old man was allowed to go home to rest.

According to the head of the medical station, he has encountered many cases of leeches and leeches entering the nose or vagina, but this is the first case of a leech entering the penis. The doctor advised people not to soak in water for long periods in ponds, lakes, rivers, and streams to avoid rare and unfortunate incidents like the above.
