When Typhoon Yagi made landfall, netizens continuously liked touching videos and images of Vietnamese people helping each other in times of trouble and storms.

Dong An Thu (born in 2003, living in Ho Chi Minh City) is the same. She spent a whole day to encapsulate her emotions after Typhoon Yagi occurred. Thu drew 5 paintings in 1 day to spread this pride everywhere through her little drawing ability.

An Thu said that not only she but everyone was touched by the image of Vietnamese people being kind and protecting each other during storm Yagi.

While An Thu was drawing the series, she recalled real-life stories of soldiers who risked their lives to help others during the storm. One of the images that moved her the most was of soldiers wading in the rain to help people fight against storm No. 3 – Photo: DONG AN THU

“That made me feel overwhelmed. I am in the South. Besides following the indirect support and praying for the North, I also wanted to do something. I decided to recreate the touching images of the storm into a series of paintings,” she shared.

Every time she puts her pen to paper, Thu feels as if she is present at the storm's hot spots, where soldiers and people are resiliently facing difficulties.

An Thu said she should have drawn more. However, she was so emotional that she cried as she drew, so she only posted 5 pictures. Thu is currently drawing more, hoping to show them to everyone soon.

When asked which picture she liked best, An Thu gently replied: "As long as it's an image of Vietnamese people loving each other, every picture makes me feel proud and emotional when I draw it.

Recently, I have seen images of Vietnam, especially the national flag, spread widely on social networks. During the storm season, this mutual support makes everyone proud and moved. I saw a clip, and international friends also appreciate this. That makes me very proud."

The young girl said that although she had drawn many cars before, this was the first time she had drawn so many cars. However, if possible, she still wanted to draw all the cars she saw that helped people block the wind during the storm.

An Thu hopes that everyone will love this series of paintings and be proud to be Vietnamese, as her parents always taught her: "Vietnamese people are kind people."

On social networks, netizens gave more than 18,000 likes to the young girl's paintings. They believe that the storm has passed but humanity, solidarity and community strength continue to spread. They continuously commented: "Vietnam is so wonderful", "Hope everyone will be safe", "The consequences of the storm are still severe but hope our people will unite, stand strong and overcome"...
