On July 30, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province issued Decision No. 926/QD-UBND approving the receipt of more than 1.7 billion VND, equivalent to 72,653 USD from the Project: Supporting the implementation of effective and sustainable interventions to prevent and combat drowning for 1,800 children in Nghia Hanh and Binh Son districts, sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK), USA.
With a total capital and capital structure of more than 1.7 billion VND, equivalent to 72,653 USD, the project is sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK), USA, to support the implementation of effective and sustainable interventions to prevent and combat child drowning in Quang Ngai province.

The project will be implemented for 17 months (from August 2024 to December 2025) in Nghia Hanh and Binh Son districts. At least 1,800 children aged 6-15 in the project area will be taught safe swimming according to current regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs. Swimming teaching activities for children implemented at the commune level are periodically and regularly monitored by provincial and district departments.
The project also aims to raise awareness of the burden of drowning and effective interventions for local authorities and residents. Implement safe swimming interventions for children aged 6-15 years in a safe and effective manner.
Managers and focal points of relevant departments, branches and units in the province and districts in the project intervention areas also have their capacity enhanced in management, program implementation, evaluation and communication on PCĐNTE.
