Right after the opening whistle, Al Hilal was the dominant team and created more opportunities, but their strikers could not take advantage of them successfully.
In the 64th minute, the deadlock of the match was broken. From a cross from the right wing by Saud Abdulhamid, midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic jumped high and headed the ball into the Al Nassr net, opening the score 1-0 for Al Hilal.
Al Nassr pressed forward after conceding and in the 67th minute, Ronaldo had a chance in the box but his left-footed shot went wide of the post. Four minutes later, the Portuguese star volleyed beautifully into the Al Hilal net but the video assistant referee (VAR) ruled out the goal when it was determined that CR7 was offside.
Al Hilal continued to show their sharpness in the 89th minute, striker Aleksandar Mitrovic cut in and headed the ball powerfully to increase the score to 2-0. In the second minute of extra time, the Serbian star completed his double, helping Al Hilal beat Al Nassr 3-0 overall.
This result helps Al Hilal continue to consolidate the top position in the Saudi Pro League 2023-24 with 41 points, 7 points more than Ronaldo's Al Nassr. This is the second consecutive match CR7 has not scored. Four days earlier, Al Nassr drew 0-0 with Persepolis (Iran) in the AFC Champions League.
