On October 31, 2019, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province approved the investment project for the road connecting Thanh Hoa city with Tho Xuan airport, about 11km long. The construction site is in Trieu Son and Tho Xuan districts. The total investment of the project is more than 1,100 billion VND, with the Department of Transport as the investor, the project implementation period is no more than 5 years (from 2019-2023).
According to VietNamNet reporters, construction on the entire route has stopped. The first and last sections of the route have been paved. Many sections do not have a flat surface, so the roadbed has not been built yet.
Although the route has not yet taken shape, the 6 bridges along the route and many drainage culverts have been basically completed. Due to the long suspension of construction, many bridge abutments and reinforced beams have rusted and are overgrown with weeds.
Regarding the above, a leader of the Thanh Hoa Transport Construction Investment Project Management Board (Department of Transport) said that the reason for the project's delay was due to lack of capital and slow site clearance.
"Currently, the Board is also coordinating with localities to urge site clearance, with the motto of construction to the extent that it is cleared," said this leader.
On July 1, 2024, Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Mai Xuan Liem signed a decision to adjust the project implementation period from no more than 5 years (from 2019-2023) to "Completion in 2025". The reason is that during the project implementation, the capital allocated for site clearance did not meet the demand, the project had to make a technical stop.
