Hanoi Green Foods Company was fined over 700 million VND for discharging waste into the environment.

Information from the Office of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province on August 25 said that the Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the province, Luu Van Ban, signed a decision to administratively fine Hanoi Green Foods Company Limited (in Cao An industrial cluster, Cao An commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province) 725 million VND for causing environmental pollution.

Specifically, on July 12, Hanoi Green Foods Company Limited discharged wastewater into the environment with 6 common environmental parameters exceeding the standard, including: TSS exceeded 7.24 times; COD exceeded 17.266 times; BOD5(200C) exceeded 18.14 times; Total N exceeded 1.155 times; Total P exceeded 1.466 times; S2- exceeded 1.2 times and PH parameter was outside the threshold according to QCVN40:2011/BTNMT (level B).

In addition to the administrative penalty, the company was also suspended from operating the source of waste causing environmental pollution for 4.5 months; required to immediately stop the violation; and to fully and correctly comply with the provisions of the law on environmental protection.

At the same time, the company must apply measures to collect and thoroughly treat wastewater to meet standards before discharging it into the environment, and report the results of having remedied the violation.

HaNoi Green Foods Company Limited must pay for the costs of appraisal, testing, measurement and analysis of environmental samples according to current standards and unit prices for violations of regulations. The deadline for implementing remedial measures is 30 days from the date of receipt of the decision.
