How did Vietnamese billionaires' companies do last year?

(NLDO) - 2024 marks a year of great success for many large corporations in Vietnam. However, the assets of billionaires have fluctuated significantly.

Vingroup: Record revenue thanks to real estate and electric vehicles

Vingroup Corporation (stock code: VIC), chaired by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, recorded consolidated net revenue of VND 192,159 billion, up 19% compared to 2023. This is the highest revenue in the group's 31-year history of operation, thanks to the strong handover of large real estate projects such as Vinhomes Royal Island and the outstanding growth of the electric vehicle segment.

Vingroup's pre-tax profit reached VND16,724 billion, up 21.5%, while its after-tax profit reached VND5,251 billion, up an astonishing 155.4% year-on-year. This result far exceeded the plan set at the 2024 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

On the stock market, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong currently owns more than 691 million VIC shares. Based on the closing price of the last trading session before Lunar New Year (January 24, 2025), Mr. Vuong's shares are estimated to be worth about VND27,916 billion, down slightly by 0.3% compared to the beginning of the year.

Hoa Phat: After-tax profit increased sharply by 77%

Hoa Phat Group Joint Stock Company (stock code: HPG), headed by billionaire Tran Dinh Long, also announced impressive business results with revenue reaching VND 140,560 billion, up 17% compared to 2023. Hoa Phat's after-tax profit reached VND 12,020 billion, up 77% compared to the previous year and exceeding the annual plan by 20%. This is the highest profit since 2022.

Hoa Phat also said it has paid more than VND 13,400 billion to the state budget, far exceeding the VND 9,000 billion figure in 2023. On the stock market, billionaire Tran Dinh Long currently owns more than 1.6 billion HPG shares, with an estimated value of about VND 42,480 billion, down slightly by 0.3% compared to the beginning of 2025.

FPT: Remarkable growth in the technology sector

FPT Corporation (stock code: FPT), chaired by Mr. Truong Gia Binh, also recorded positive business results with revenue reaching VND 62,849 billion, up 19.4% compared to 2023. FPT's pre-tax profit reached VND 11,071 billion, up 20.3%, exceeding the annual plan by 102%. Profit after tax for shareholders of the parent company reached VND 7,849 billion, up 21.4%.

Mr. Truong Gia Binh currently holds more than 102 million FPT shares, equivalent to 6.08% of the company's capital, with an estimated value of more than VND 15,600 billion.

Techcombank: Continuing to lead the banking industry

Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank, stock code: TCB), chaired by Mr. Ho Hung Anh, also announced its 2024 business results with many impressive indicators. Techcombank's pre-tax profit reached VND 27,500 billion, up 20.3%, while total operating income (TOI) reached VND 47,000 billion, up 17.3% compared to 2023.

Techcombank continues to lead the banking system in terms of CASA (non-term deposits) ratio, with customer deposits reaching VND565,100 billion, up 24.3% compared to the beginning of the year. The bank's net interest income (NII) also increased by 28.2%, reaching more than VND35,500 billion.

Mr. Ho Hung Anh currently owns more than 78 million TCB shares, with an estimated value of about VND 1,930 billion.

Phat Dat: Revenue growth but profit decline

Meanwhile, Phat Dat Real Estate Development Joint Stock Company (stock code: PDR), chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Dat, reported revenue in 2024 of VND 2,017 billion, a sharp increase compared to VND 618 billion in 2023. However, financial revenue decreased by 58% to VND 401 billion, resulting in after-tax profit of only VND 523 billion, down 23.4% compared to the previous year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dat currently holds more than 334 million PDR shares but his estimated asset value is only about 6,379 billion VND.
