In a press release, the government said investigations were conducted into We Love Tour on February 13 and 15, confirming the company was in financial trouble, with debts of more than NT$10 million ($318,730).

The regulator also found that the Taiwanese company had violated customer rights after 292 tourists booked tours from Taipei to Phu Quoc Island during the recent Lunar New Year holiday.

Due to financial difficulties, the company was unable to fulfill its service contract with customers, according to Focus Taiwan .

The three-month suspension was imposed on the company under sections 36 and 38 of the Consumer Protection Act to prevent more consumers from being violated, the government said.

The suspension of business will affect approximately 430 clients that We Love Tour had scheduled tours for between now and April.

All We Love Tour customers whose tours are currently canceled can request compensation from the company or ask the company to assist in transferring their designed itinerary to another travel agency in Taiwan.

We Love Tour was also banned from taking another group of tourists to Phu Quoc today. Authorities found evidence that the Taiwanese company only paid for the group's airfare and local hotels, not the travel agencies in Vietnam.

As a result, the group of 16 people scheduled to fly to Vietnam signed a new contract with an independent tour management company at Taoyuan Airport, specifying their package as a private tour including visiting Phu Quoc without a local guide.

Regarding the accusation that We Love Tour violated management regulations, the government said it will collect evidence and victim testimonies from tour groups that left Taiwan for Phu Quoc on February 9 and 10 and evaluate the allegations based on Taiwanese law.

If We Love Tour General Manager David Lin cannot resolve the issues with the company, the Taiwan Tourism Quality Assurance Association will revoke its membership.
