Besi Company invests in microchip factory in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park

The Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) said that within the framework of the Vietnam - Netherlands High-Tech Business Forum held on November 2 in Hanoi, the SHTP Management Board granted the Investment Certificate for the Project "Manufacturing Factory of Besi Vietnam Co., Ltd." to BE Semiconductor Industries NV of the Netherlands (Besi Company) in the field of semiconductor chips with a total investment capital of the first phase of this project of more than 115 billion VND (equivalent to 4.9 million USD), with an operating period of 50 years.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thi, Head of SHTP Management Board, said that attracting BESI Company in the field of semiconductor microchips will bring positive contributions to the economic and social development of Vietnam in general and of Ho Chi Minh City in particular; especially creating high-level job opportunities for workers as well as training a team of technicians in the field of semiconductor microchips.

“With this project, Vietnamese workers will also be able to participate in domestic and foreign management and technical training courses related to the services that the project implements and thereby have the opportunity to acquire and absorb technology in the field of semiconductor microchips during their work at the project,” Mr. Nguyen Anh Thi added.

Besi Company has decided to rent a ready-built factory from Lap Thanh Factory Investment Company Limited with an area of ​​2,000m² at SHTP. The investor is expected to install machinery, equipment and recruit workers from now until the end of 2024 and the project will be put into operation in the first quarter of 2025.
