Hotel room occupancy in Ho Chi Minh City reaches over 80% during New Year's Eve

With thousands of international visitors coming to Ho Chi Minh City on the first day of the new year 2025 along with domestic visitors, it is estimated that accommodation facilities in the area will welcome about 135,000 visitors, with room occupancy reaching over 80%.

On the occasion of this year's New Year, the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry has deployed and launched a variety of activities to stimulate the market, promote inner-city destinations and attract tourists.

Statistics at the end of January 1 of the City Department of Tourism showed that the number of guests staying at the accommodation system reached about 135,000, with room occupancy reaching about 83%. Along with that, the number of international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City reached about 41,215; tourism revenue reached 2,013 billion VND.

The tour of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council and People's Committee headquarters alone welcomed about 2,077 domestic and international visitors.

According to information from travel agencies, because the New Year holiday is only one day and is also close to the Lunar New Year, most guests choose to stay at home with their families or go to eco-tourism areas near the city to relax with family and friends.

In addition, inner-city tours are chosen by some tourists during the 2024 New Year holiday. The destinations that tourists prioritize during this year's holiday are neighboring localities in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, this result was achieved thanks to the Department of Tourism and related departments and branches deploying to the system of tourist accommodation establishments and tourism businesses to implement a variety of measures to ensure safety at destinations, food safety and hygiene, sell goods at the correct listed price at the establishment to tourists, improve the quality of tourism services...

One of the impressive highlights during the 2025 New Year is that the department carries out a series of activities to promote tourism images at the international arrivals terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport, with welcome messages in many languages, along with QR codes to access the city's tourism information system.

Accordingly, visitors to the city in the new year will be welcomed with the message "Ho Chi Minh City welcomes you" conveyed in 27 languages, accompanied by vivid images, continuously broadcast on LED screens at the baggage claim area at the international arrivals terminal.

A system of vivid promotional posters introducing the beauty and dynamism of Ho Chi Minh City has also been delicately arranged along the corridor of visitors' movement from landing to the immigration area...

Meanwhile, shopping malls and commercial centers that meet tourist service standards such as Crescent mall, Gigamall, Vincom... organize promotional programs for the 2025 New Year, with discounts of up to 50%, 80% for thousands of products in the food, cosmetics, fashion, etc. industries.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that at the end of the year, it launched the Shopping season program - City sale campaign with up to 80% discount on products of more than 200 brands, at major shopping centers such as Vincom, Union Square, Gigamall, lasting until January 1, 2025.
