Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong has ended his 2-year stay abroad in Japan when he decided to return home and join Binh Phuoc Club. The contract of the striker born in 1995 with the representative playing in the first division is rumored to have a high salary, not less than 5 billion VND/year.
After Dang Van Lam, Le Ngoc Bao and Tran Ngoc Son, Cong Phuong has become the next national player to play for a first-class team this season. He is expected to be the leader of Binh Phuoc Club on the road to promotion to V-League.

Cong Phuong’s debut match in the first division will take place on October 27, in Binh Phuoc FC’s away match against Hoa Binh FC (at Hoa Binh Province Stadium). After signing the contract, Cong Phuong will train with the team to prepare for the new season.
At Binh Phuoc Club, Cong Phuong will reunite with Nguyen Anh Duc, his former teammate in the Vietnam national team, who is now the team's head coach. Former technical director of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Yusuke Adachi also joined Binh Phuoc Club last season, taking on the task of becoming the technical director and building a sustainable structure for the Southeast team.
On the day of signing the contract with the team, he shared: "I see my dream through the vision, aspiration and professional football style at Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club. I am very happy and excited to play and contribute to a team with the mission of accompanying the dream of Vietnamese football. I will continue to strive and practice hard with the club members to compete and achieve the best results in the new season. I believe that in the near future, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club will become the destination of many talented players and gradually become the cradle of sustainable youth football training and development. Let me send my warmest greetings to the fans of Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club, and look forward to seeing you soon at the stadium."
In the 2023-2024 First Division, Binh Phuoc Club competed fiercely with PVF-CAND for a play-off ticket, but in the end only finished third overall. This season, Cong Phuong's team is determined to win a ticket to play in the V-League.
Cong Phuong played for HAGL and participated in the V-League in two periods 2015-2019 and 2021-2022, with three overseas trips in between to Mito Hollyhock (2016), Incheon United (2019) and Sint-Truidense (2019).
Cong Phuong's trip abroad was unsuccessful.
The striker born in 1995 played for Ho Chi Minh City FC in the 2020 season, scoring 6 goals in 12 matches in the first phase, then missed the second phase due to a toe injury in the match against Nam Dinh (Ho Chi Minh City FC won 5-1).
Cong Phuong's peak in the V-League was the 2021 season. The 29-year-old striker flew high with 6 goals, topping the table with HAGL before the tournament was canceled. Cong Phuong then played for HAGL for the 2022 season (scoring 5 goals in 16 matches), before moving to Yokohama FC.
At the Japanese team, Cong Phuong only played a total of 85 minutes after 3 matches in the cup. He did not play in any matches in J-League 1 (2023) and J-League 2 (2024). Last September, the striker born in 1995 and Yokohama FC reached an agreement to terminate the contract.
