According to data from the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, the cumulative industrial production value in the first 3 months of 2025 reached an impressive figure of 4,540 billion VND, a strong growth of 13% over the same period last year. This is an important step forward, demonstrating the strong will and aspiration to rise of the business community and workers in the province.
In particular, the industrial production index (IIP) in March recorded a breakthrough growth of 17.84% over the same period. This is the highest growth rate in March compared to the past three years (2023-2025), showing the increasingly strong development momentum of Yen Bai's industry. The cumulative industrial production index in the first 3 months of 2025 increased by 11.89% over the same period. This growth comes from the positive contributions of many key industries, creating notable "bright spots".
These include: metal ore mining (impressive growth of 87.08%), food processing (strong growth of 66.22%), garment manufacturing (up 44.94%), chemical and chemical product manufacturing (up 44.78%), pharmaceutical, chemical and medicinal materials manufacturing (outstanding growth of 73.23%), metal manufacturing (2.74 times growth), bed, wardrobe, table and chair manufacturing (up 36.28%); especially the production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning with a hot growth rate of 80.52%.
However, in addition to the encouraging achievements, Yen Bai’s industrial picture still has some shortcomings that require attention and timely solutions from management levels. These areas include: other mining, paper and paper products production, rubber and plastic products production, prefabricated metal products production, as well as repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment. Unleashing the potential of these areas will be an important key to promoting the comprehensive and sustainable development of the province’s industry.
To further assess the production and business situation, recent statistics show clear optimism among the majority of processing and manufacturing enterprises in the province. Survey results show that in the first quarter, up to 18.33% of enterprises recorded a better business situation, 56.67% remained stable and only 25% of enterprises encountered difficulties. Notably, the forecast for the second quarter brought even more positive signals, with 48.33% of enterprises expecting the business situation to continue to improve.
These encouraging results are a testament to the tireless efforts and solidarity of the entire political system and the business community of Yen Bai. The province has been implementing a series of synchronous solutions to improve the business environment, creating strong momentum for business development. All levels, sectors and localities have actively participated in removing capital barriers, supporting brand building, boosting trade promotion, reforming administrative procedures and improving provincial competitiveness in attracting investment.
Sharing about these positive changes, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh - Deputy Director of Sam Due Vietnam Wood Industry Company Limited said: "The business environment of the province has been significantly improved. The province's practical support policies have created favorable conditions for businesses to develop production and expand markets. In addition, we have also proactively innovated technology and improved competitiveness to better grasp the opportunities that are opening up."
With strong growth momentum in the first quarter, Yen Bai industry is expected to continue to be an important driving force for the province's economic growth in the coming time. To maintain this growth momentum and move towards sustainable development, Yen Bai province is synchronously implementing many key solutions.
In particular, the province directed units to proactively and effectively implement the 2025 plan; continue to implement solutions to stimulate consumption, expand domestic and export markets, and effectively utilize signed free trade agreements. In addition, the province strengthened market management, especially for essential goods such as gasoline, LPG; promoted administrative procedure reform, reviewed and simplified licensing procedures to create maximum convenience for businesses.
Along with that are practical solutions to remove difficulties for enterprises in terms of capital, support brand building and promote trade promotion activities; encourage and facilitate enterprises to apply advanced science and technology in deep processing, increasing the added value of products. With these efforts, Yen Bai not only expects to maintain impressive growth momentum but also aims for sustainable development, creating a strong driving force for the province's comprehensive socio-economic development.
