To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), to educate the nation's patriotic tradition, self-reliance, and desire for peace, affirm the belief and express the perspective of the young generation under the lens of technology, a social project simulating the journey of fighting and growing up of the Vietnam People's Army has been launched using virtual reality technology.

Virtual reality technology does not inspire national pride

Speaking to VietnamPlus, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung, founder of the YooLife digital platform, said that the entire heroic historical journey of the nation is fully recreated through the 'virtual museum' system.

When accessing the application on personal devices such as smartphones or laptops, the project will help users go back in time, returning to the difficult but proud early days when the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army - was officially established.

From there, the historical journey is vividly recreated, taking viewers through the heroic years of resistance against French colonialism, to 21 years of resilient struggle in the resistance war against American imperialism,...

The special highlight of the project is the combination of history, culture and modern technology. Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung shared: “We use VR360 technology so that most of the landmarks associated with the history of the birth and development of the Vietnam People's Army are recreated in digital space. In addition to vivid images, each project is supplemented with explanations of historical campaigns. This is a very effective approach to history and culture, instead of just learning through books.”

With a repository of more than 3,000 images, viewers can not only admire but also experience the feeling of actually standing at historical sites and landmarks with VR360 technology covering the whole scene. Users will directly interact and be proactive in exploring and searching for information.

Each frame and each angle brings a journey of discovery, helping to arouse curiosity and pride in the cultural and historical values of the nation.

Through visual images, videos, with narration assistants, and scientifically presented documents, users will have an interesting experience, easily grasping information about famous events with strong historical imprints.

Lieutenant Colonel, PhD Tran Huu Huy - Institute of Military History, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, who is a professional consultant for the project, believes that military history, in addition to collecting, archiving and preserving, should widely share its values with the public, because according to him, sharing is the most sustainable way of preservation.

“This project to recreate the journey of building, fighting and growing up of the heroic Vietnam People's Army should not be limited to the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Army's founding, but will be an important source of documents for long-term research and exploitation thanks to the value it brings,” Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Tran Huu Huy emphasized.

According to the project developer, over the course of 6 months, the project team traveled to many places in the country to record and recreate historical sites associated with the development journey of the Vietnam People's Army, from the Tran Hung Dao Special National Relic Site (Nguyen Binh, Cao Bang), Dinh Hoa Safe Zone (ATK), Dien Bien Phu Battlefield Relic Site, Quang Tri Citadel, to Phu Van Lau in Hue and Cu Chi Tunnels in Ho Chi Minh City. It can be said that this is the most massive and visual collection of 'red addresses' ever in Vietnam.

With the support of modern technology and creative approaches, the project simulating the journey of fighting and growing up of the Vietnam People's Army using virtual reality technology has successfully spread historical values to the young generation and is a meaningful bridge from the past to the present.

Bringing history and culture closer to the public through technology

The project simulating the journey of fighting and growing up of the Vietnam People's Army is not the first project that Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung's team has developed.

With the development of VR virtual reality technology, hundreds of historical relics and scenic spots are recreated almost exactly as they were in reality.

Users visiting the VR360 tour not only see the space, but also watch videos, photos of artifacts, read and understand more valuable historical information.

Sharing the idea of developing the project, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung said that he has long wanted to preserve the culture and history of the nation, along with honoring history, promoting the development of art and tourism in Vietnam. Mr. Tung also realized that in recent years, the trend of VR360 technology is a hot technology, with practical applications in life, so he boldly built the project, combining the two together.

“Technology platforms or social networks often focus on personal connections, but we choose a separate direction, building tools to spread the culture of our country, our people, to everyone. From there, we not only convey humane messages about traditional beauty but also spread Vietnamese identity and stimulate tourism,” Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung shared with reporters.

The project team not only carried out hundreds of virtualization projects such as the VR360 tour of the Vietnam Military History Museum, the Creative Design Festival space, Thai Hoa Palace (Hue Imperial City), Independence Palace... but also cooperated with thousands of domestic and foreign units to post virtualization spaces of many different fields such as education, culture, tourism, F&B or real estate on this platform. The exhibition introduces to the public 200 paintings, graphics, and sculptures by nearly 200 artists from all over the country. This is the first exhibition at the new facility of the Museum.

Sharing about future orientation, Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung also said that the project's destination is to become a place to connect, share and exploit data related to culture, history and art, to introduce and promote national spirit to a wide audience around the world.

“We put into it the desire to erase the limits of distance, connect space to affirm the country's position in applying virtual reality technology to heritage conservation.”

This virtualization project is not only a breakthrough in technology but also a bridge to help all generations, from young people to overseas Vietnamese, to feel more clearly about history and national spirit through flat screens.

The project not only aims to preserve historical and cultural values but also to bring these heritages far and wide, introducing the beauty of Vietnamese history and culture to the world, affirming the country's position in applying virtual reality technology to heritage conservation./.
