Late afternoon, the industrial park gate was bustling again. Street vendors were displaying their wares all over the street. Ms. Hong, a vendor, was busily displaying a basket of cakes next to an old bicycle when Mr. Dung, the industrial park security guard, came out from inside, frowned and shouted:
- Hey Hong, I've told you several times. The industrial park gate is not a market. You should move there and live there, it's very dangerous. You can't sell goods anywhere.
Hearing Mr. Dung scolding, Ms. Hong ignored him and sighed:
- I sympathize with you. The workers got off work, so I took the opportunity to sell some cakes to earn some money to buy rice. Everywhere is empty, where can I sell them now?
Ms. Tam, a resident living nearby, passed by on her bicycle and joined in the conversation:
- I often pass by here, and it makes me worried. A few days ago, a female worker drove out and almost crashed into a fruit vendor sitting on the side of the road. If she had been a little slower, there would have been an accident.
Mr. Dung nodded:
- I worked as a security guard here for several years and saw many dangerous incidents, almost causing big problems. Buyers were standing in the middle of the road to choose goods. Sellers were sitting close to the gate, blocking the entrance. The gate of the industrial park was like a jar. If a truck carrying goods crashed into it and caused an accident, both sides would suffer.
Ms. Hong sighed:
But there is no place to sell... where can we go? The market is far away, the workers don't bother to go there.
Sister Tam pondered:
- Or the government should consider arranging a separate sales area in an abandoned land, near the industrial park, with painted lines and proper signs, both safe and creating conditions for women to earn a living, and workers do not have to travel far. If we keep it like this, sooner or later something will happen.
Mr. Dung agreed:
- Sometimes it has to be like that, the ward and the industrial park management board need to get involved. Just letting it happen spontaneously like this is not good.
Ms. Hong gathered up the basket of cakes, looking discouraged:
- Well, I'll sell the rest today and then think about it tomorrow. I hope there's a place for us traders to sell our goods to workers safely.
Listening to Ms. Hong, Mr. Dung sympathized and said:
- I will propose to the industrial park management board tomorrow.
