Sharing on the sidelines of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue 2024 on September 24, Mr. Khamlay Sipaseuth, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction, said that industrial transformation is the process of transition from a society dependent on natural production methods, using primitive tools and unorganized labor, to a society with organized production methods.

Laos began its modernization process in 1986, when Vientiane opened up the country and began welcoming investors from all over the world, including Vietnam. Some investors set up factories and businesses to produce goods and export them to neighboring countries.

Laos is currently welcoming wind and electricity projects in the South of the country and Vientiane is looking forward to investors from Ho Chi Minh City coming to explore opportunities in the fields they are interested in, to explore Laos from North to South.

"I would like to invite the people of Ho Chi Minh City to visit Laos. Laos is a very beautiful country, with archaeological sites, nature, rivers, temples and rich cuisine, which will certainly be loved by the Vietnamese people. I look forward to welcoming you. Laos and Vietnam are very good friends, we have many things to exchange," the Vice President of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction affirmed.

According to Mr. Khamlay Sipaseuth, the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction is carrying out its role and responsibility in uniting and encouraging Lao people to implement the government's plan, actively producing domestic products to replace imports.

Regarding financial policies in supporting startups, Mr. Torsten Bonew, Deputy Mayor of Leipzig (Germany) said that in the German system, cities help businesses by providing good office space at reasonable prices, as well as trying to build a network of connections between international partners, universities and startups in Leipzig.

The Deputy Mayor of Leipzig said: "I would like to mention a joint venture between Vietnam and Germany, along with the cooperation with Savaco to provide clean water to households in Ho Chi Minh City. In fact, the cooperation between Savaco and Leipzig is developing strongly and is currently aiming to provide drinking water to 350 households in Ho Chi Minh City in a pilot project".

In addition, Mr. Torsten Bonew mentioned the medical cooperation between St. Georg Hospital in Leipzig and Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City in terms of exchanging doctors, nurses and healthcare experience. Leipzig is investing in educational and research exchanges, as well as working to expand this cooperation year after year. "We were delighted to receive 14 nursing staff from Vietnam in Leipzig in August at the local hospital. This is a good example of our successful cooperation," emphasized the Deputy Mayor of Leipzig.

The two cities have also made great strides in cooperation on public transport. Leipzig transport companies are recruiting Vietnamese students as bus drivers and electrical engineers, hoping to find potential future faces working in Leipzig.

Commenting on the highlights of digital transformation in the port and import-export sector, Mr. Waldis González Peinado, Deputy Governor of Santiago de Cuba Province (Cuba), said that Cuba's port activities are very busy, with workers having a capacity to unload up to 12,000 containers of goods per day and receiving all types of ships.

Cuba is working with foreign partners to implement a new system that will provide full information about ships before they enter its territorial waters. The port’s advantages have increased the attractiveness of Santiago de Cuba province to foreign investors.

" The emergence of small and medium-sized enterprises in Cuba has brought a new change to the economy and we are now updating the country's economic model to suit the reality ," said Waldis González Peinado.

According to the Deputy Governor of Santiago de Cuba, large state-owned enterprises are still the mainstay of the economy, but thanks to the open changes in policies, the small and medium-sized private business community has breathed new life into the economy. Mr. Waldis González Peinado expects that the contribution of small and medium-sized private enterprises will increase and account for a larger proportion to help the Cuban economy integrate deeply into the global economic environment.
