On September 18, the Vietnamese Embassy in France held a direct and online meeting with representatives of Vietnamese associations in Paris and many areas in France to share information about the huge losses of life and property caused by Typhoon Yagi, and at the same time called on the Vietnamese community and French friends to join hands to support compatriots in the country.
The fundraising activity in France was organized in response to the call of General Secretary and President To Lam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, promoting the spirit of solidarity and compatriots' affection to help people in damaged areas to soon stabilize their lives. At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang said that the damage caused by storm No. 3 (Yagi) to many northern provinces and cities was preliminarily estimated at more than 50 trillion VND. Vietnam is the country most severely affected because it is located on the path that storm Yagi swept through. Currently, the work of overcoming and resolving the consequences of storms and floods, helping people stabilize their lives, taking care of their health and restoring their daily activities and production in affected areas, etc. are being urgently and widely deployed. The Vietnamese Government also pays close attention to the restoration of transportation, production and business, the renovation of educational and medical facilities, as well as the development of long-term support policies and mechanisms for individuals, groups and businesses in disaster-hit areas.
