Just like in Vietnam, Autumn in India is the season of Festivals, of which the Festival of Lights, also known as Diwali, is the most important and popular festival in India, similar to the Lunar New Year in Vietnam.

Held in November every year when the hot and dry weather has passed and cool air has filled the air, Diwali is an occasion for Indians to welcome the light and new life, after months of hard work.

These days, not only people in India but also the Indian community around the world are eagerly preparing for the Diwali Festival. The atmosphere of excitement and anticipation is no different from that of Vietnamese people preparing for the traditional Tet and welcoming the New Year.

Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word "Deepavali," which means "Lots of Lamps." But the origin of this Festival is tied to the legendary story of Ramayana about the return of King Rama and his wife Sita after 14 years of wandering and fighting the demon Ravana.

The return of Rama, Sita and his brother Lakshmana was welcomed by people everywhere with the light of countless lamps and candles. Therefore, lighting lamps and candles is an important part of the Diwali Festival. On the festival days, Indians decorate their houses with lamps, candles and lanterns, creating a brilliant, shimmering and magical scene.

Diwali is thus celebrated as a celebration of the victory of good over evil. Lanterns come in many shapes and colors, carrying the message of brightness and hope. The use of traditional candles and lanterns has caused some problems with air pollution and smog, so today most places in India have switched to using LED lights and eco-friendly candles, which are no less splendid.

Diwali is therefore also celebrated as a celebration of the victory of good over evil.

Diwali is also an opportunity for Indians to meet friends and family. They exchange gifts and enjoy traditional delicacies. Sweets such as mithai, samosa, and laddu are often prepared and shared with relatives and friends. During the festival days, musical performances, dances, and rituals to worship Hindu gods are also held across the country.

The Indian Festival of Lights is now not only the most important festival for all the people in the most populous country in the world but also an occasion for tourists from all over the world to visit and experience the beauty and unique style of the Festival and the rich and diverse culture of the Indian people. Diwali is an exciting cultural festival, and is becoming a remarkable international event, for people all over the world to express sharing, solidarity and hope in life, lighting up the dark days with light and love.

This year's Diwali festival in Vietnam, in addition to Indian cuisine, a performing troupe from India will come to perform many special shows.

Indians have many reasons to celebrate and organize a big Festival of Lights this year, when the economy is flourishing, becoming an attractive destination for the world's big technology "eagles". This year, India is also the busiest and most successful host as the Chair of G20 and hosts dozens of conferences at all levels, including the level of heads of state for the world's leading economies.

In Vietnam, the Indian Business Association (Incham), which brings together a growing number of Indian businesses and the Indian community in Vietnam, will organize the Festival of Lights - Diwali on the evening of December 2, 2023 at the Marriot Hotel, Hanoi.
